CCC Netball | A big day of netball with our Junior and Intermediate teams competing in the CCC Netball Championship at Penrith yesterday . The intermediate and Senior team had a successful day both finishing second in their pool. Unfortunately not enough though to get through to the finals. On the other hand, our Juniors were successful in winning their pool (on goal difference) and made it into the final against Mater Dei from Wagga. After a tightly fought final our juniors went down 13-10. Overall coming second in NSW. Well done girls!! Ms Fearon, Ms Thorne & Ms

STRINGS SPECTACULAR | On Sunday St Mary’s hosted the Wollongong Conservatorium's Strings Spectacular. It lived up to its name, with over 80 young musicians playing some phenomenal music! All players participated in a 2.5hr workshop with composer/conductor Stephen Chin, and then rehearsed in smaller groups ahead of an AMAZING concert performance, which featured our St Mary's String Ensemble performing Spring from The Four Seasons and The Ludlows from the film Legends of The Fall, before joining in with the massed orchestra for Rainbows and Lux Angelis by Stephen Chin, which was a moving finale. Congratulates to Olivia Otsyula Year 9, Daisy Brungs Year 8, Edwina Jones Year 8, Gisele Bezbradica, (violin) Year 7 Ellie Chrostowski Year 9 and Miya King (cello) Year 8 and Amanda Korie (bass) Year 10 who worked hard and performed beautifully. AUSTRALIAN ALL SCHOOLS | Year 9 students Grace Tracey and Ashleigh Barlow were recently in Ballarat attending the Australian All Schools AFL trials. Grace was captain of the NSW All Schools AFL team which finished 3rd over all. Both Grace Tracey and Ashleigh Barlow performed outstandingly in the competition, with Grace being named MVP of the tournament and subsequently being rewarded with her selection in the All Australian AFL Team 2023. Grace then left Ballarat and flow to Perth after being selected as Vice Captain of the NSW All Schools Netball Team to compete at the Australian All Schools Netball trials. After being selected in the Under 15s Australian All Schools AFL team,... yes, you guessed it, this phenomenal young superstar was selected in the Under 15s Australian All Schools Netball team, and in doing so has now gained selection in her SECOND Australian All Schools team in the space of two weeks. To be named in an Australian Team (selected from every single student from all schools in the entire country) in a single sport is the pinnacle of achievement for all school aged athletes. To be selected in two teams, across two separate sports is almost beyond belief. What an incredible achievement for an extremely talented, hard working and humble young athlete. #AustralianAFL #AustralianNetball #Talented #Humble #Inspiring #NSWAllSchools
