Each year hunters observe a series of personal anniversaries — the anniversary of our first bird, the day we got our first bird dog, the day we lost our first bird dog, the last time we hunted with someone we loved, and when those moments merged and lit a fire for conservation in our soul. This year, Quail Forever marks a major milestone — its 20th anniversary. It’s a big deal. In two decades, Quail Forever has created and restored over 7 million acres of habitat, formed over 250 local chapters, and exposed thousands of youths to conservation and hunting. These aren’t just numbers — they’re stories of landscapes reborn, of hunters finding quail where once there were none, and of children discovering their connection to the land. Head to the link in our bio to read "Quail Tales" and see how for the past two decades, Quail Forever has emerged as a big voice for a small bird. #quailforever

Quail Fact Friday! Did you know field researchers have observed extraordinary reproductive strategies used by mountain quail? The breeding pair creates two nests at the same time. The male incubates one while the female incubates the other. Known as “rapid, multi-clutch monogamy,” this nesting strategy has never been reported in any other monogamous species. Using this reproductive strategy, females can lay up to 26 eggs during one nesting period! Mountain quail typically begin forming pair bonds in late March and begin their nesting period from April to July. #quailforever #quailfactfriday

Do you know your dirt? Identifying the soil type and condition on a property can help landowners make the most impact when they are improving wildlife habitat on their land. A site visit with a Quail Forever Farm Bill biologist can be a great way to identify what soil type is on a property and create a management plan which reflects that.
