As Quail Forever approaches its 20th anniversary, we invite you to join us in celebrating two decades of quail conservation. Become a member before December 4th to receive the special, expanded 20th Anniversary Issue of Quail Forever Journal. About the 20th Anniversary Cover Art: The cover of this special issue features Christa Newberry’s “Quail in Color,” a stunning representation of North America’s six native quail species – bobwhite, scaled, mountain, Montezuma, Gambel’s, and valley quail. To create this masterpiece, Newberry went far beyond traditional artistic methods. She sourced pigment powders from each region where these six quail species are found, using these materials to craft custom watercolors. This meticulous process of grinding pigments and creating paint brought her closer to the landscapes and birds she depicted. Each color was chosen with care, reflecting the specific habitat each quail species calls home, lending a deep authenticity and a sense of place to the artwork. Oh, and there are a few Easter eggs that can be found on cover of this issue. Each quail contains a hidden “Quail Forever” in the artwork. Let us know in the comments if you can locate all 6! Become a Quail Forever member today, and you’ll receive this special issue and be part of a community dedicated to making a lasting difference for quail, hunters, and wildlife. On The Wing Podcast Ep. 293: New Hunters and New Horizons, is live. Listen now at the link below, or wherever you get your podcasts. https://www.quailforever.org/BlogLanding/Blogs/Quail-Forever/Podcast-Ep-293-New-Hunters-and-New-Horizons.aspx This is the third episode of Pheasants Forever’s 15th annual Rooster Road Trip. Host Bob St.Pierre is joined by PF’s Vice President of Marketing Andrew Vavra, PF’s North Dakota Education and Outreach Coordinator Seth Owens, and PF’s Video Production Coordinator Aaron Black-Schmidt to recap the conclusion of the group’s hunt in the Bismarck area and the start of the hunt in the greater Grand Forks region. Episode Highlights: - Vavra provides the play-by-play to the group’s very “birdy” third day of hunting with North Dakota Game & Fish Department’s R3 Coordinator Cayla Bendel. Although there were lots of roosters in the air, Vavra hangs the “missed opportunities” banner over the day following some lackluster group marksmanship. - Owens grabs the R3 baton from Bendel on the fourth day to talk about his effort to pass along the state’s hunting heritage through education events and his stunning photography. Check out Owens’ photography and videography talents on Instagram at @stuff.seth.sees. - Find the companion video accompanying this podcast episode at RoosterRoadTrip.org. While there, enter to win a Browning Citori 825 shotgun and join/renew/extend your Pheasants Forever or Quail Forever membership featuring the new Browning Bird & Buck knife. During the holiday season, we’re reminded of all we have to be thankful for. As part of the upland community, you understand the importance of our work, what it delivers, and the void that would exist without it. We need more acres of grassland, more birds in the air, and more hunters in the field. From all of us at Pheasants Forever & Quail Forever, and on behalf of the uplands, a heartfelt “Thank You.” None of the work we do is possible without our passionate members, supporters, and partners. Thank you for your commitment. Thank you for your generosity. The uplands are a better place, and have a brighter future, because of you. During this season of giving, we humbly ask you to consider the uplands—what it gives you and what it provides us all. Learn more below on our various ways to give. Happy Holidays! quailforever.org/waystogive
