Quail Fact or Fiction Friday!💡 “Growing season burns are destroying bobwhite nests.” Fiction! Growing season burns, when properly timed and managed, actually support healthy bobwhite habitat. Studies have shown that 67% of bobwhite nests survive in a growing season burn regime. Only 4% were lost to prescribed burning (Moorman et al 2021). Timing burns to occur late February into early June will prevent burning during peak nesting season. The focus should be on maintaining the appropriate fire frequency for your area and timing fire to meet your specific management goals. #quailforever #quailfactfriday #quail
