Three talented and ambitious members of PF & QF’s National Youth Leadership Council joined the Government Affairs team in Washington, DC on June 12 through 15. Olivia Palmer (MI), Lexi Huntimer (ND) and Jack Allen (KS) were accompanied by PF & QF Farm Bill Biologist Heather Francis to meet with members of U.S. Congress. The NYLC stepped up to ask U.S. representatives and U.S. senators for “robust funding in the conservation title” of the 2023 Farm Bill and to “please reintroduce the North American Grasslands Conservation Act.” Each young conservation leaders also shared personal stories about their PF &QF chapters and their reasons for caring about wildlife habitat conservation. Equipped with policy talking points PF & QF reference materials, and their own personal stories, the NYLC made a lasting impression on members of Congress, the US Senate and their staff! We also hosted parent chaperones Randy Huntimer, David Palmer and Matt Allen. The parents joined us for several meetings and helped promote the PF & QF mission specific to their state and chapters. We want to thank all of PF & QF chapters, volunteers and members who support our grassroots advocacy work and our critically important Legislative Action Fund (LAF) making these efforts possible.
