Our condolences to the Grant family. Coach Grant was an original member of our National Board of Directors, and a long-standing supporter of our habitat mission.
USDA General Signup for Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) runs through April 7th! Head to the link in our bio to find a PF or QF biologist in your area and discuss enrollment options. U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced a new general signup for the Conservation Reserve Program running from February 27 through April 7, 2023. CRP has long been the nation’s most important tool for targeting environmentally sensitive lands with conservation practices that produce wildlife habitat, cleaner waters, healthier soils, and a more resilient climate. There are nearly 23 million acres enrolled with a 27-million-acre cap set for fiscal year 2023. Additionally, producers and landowners can enroll acres under the Continuous signup, including sought after practices such as the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP) and State Acres for Wildlife Enhancement (SAFE) initiative. Contact your local PF or QF biologist for signup options! #crp #habitat #wildlife #quailforever #thehabitatorganization

YOU ARE INVITED! Fly over to the link and find a banquet event happening at a chapter near you! https://pfqf.myeventscenter.com Unique among national conservation organizations, PF & QF chapters retain 100% decision-making control over their locally-raised funds. This allows PF & QF chapter volunteers to develop wildlife habitat projects and conduct youth conservation events in their own local communities, while simultaneously belonging to a national organization with a voice on state and federal conservation policy impacting wildlife habitat.
Pittman-Robertson Act conservation funding has once again surpassed its annual record. Nearly $1.2 billion was raised through the program during the 2023 fiscal year, surpassing last year’s record $1.1 billion mark. The money will be invested in conservation programs, practices and initiatives from coast-to-coast. States use their Pittman-Robertson funds to restore, manage and enhance wildlife habitat for pheasants, quail, waterfowl, deer, elk and countless other birds and mammals. They also help provide public access to wildlife resources and support hunter education programs. Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever recently announced a new five-year partnership with the Ohio Division of Wildlife that’s a great example of Pittman-Robertson dollars in action. The program will use matching Pittman-Robertson funds to help improve upland habitat across the state by targeting public lands in Ohio that have wild pheasant and/or quail populations. Habitat restoration efforts will focus on using prescribed burns, aerial herbicide application and other habitat tools to restore grassland habitat impacted by invasive species or woody succession. The partnership is on track to improve up to 3,000 acres in its first year.
On The Wing Podcast EP. 206: CRP Enrollment Available for Landowners Through April 7th, is live! Link below to listen now. https://quailforever.org/BlogLanding/Blogs/Quail-Forever/Podcast-Ep-206-CRP-Enrollment-Available-for-Landowners-through-April-7th.aspx Host Bob St.Pierre is joined by four Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever biologists who are also experts in the federal Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). PF & QF’s Rachel Bush, Brittney Viers, Andy Houser, and Nate Fore talk about why bird hunters should care about CRP and discuss the unique opportunity for CRP enrollment open to landowners through April 7th. Episode Highlights: -Bush, a biologist from North Dakota, explains the importance of CRP for upland birds, hunters, water quality, and soil health. -While CRP has always been synonymous with pheasant habitat, Viers, a biologist from Tennessee, explains the value CRP brings to the mid-south and southeastern -U.S. for landowners interested in creating bobwhite quail habitat. -Houser, a biologist from Nebraska, explains how the private lands enrolled into CRP are the foundation to walk-in access programs across the country. Interested in learning more about CRP and conservation options for your property, contact a Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever biologist near you by visiting PheasantsForever.org/CRP or QuailForever.org/CRP.
We can't exactly explain how it happens, but becoming a QF Life Member seems to improve your hunting success. Maybe it's because taking your membership to the next level allows Quail Forever to create, restore, and permanently protect more wildlife habitat, and we all know more habitat means more opportunity to find birds. Plus, for a limited time, when you upgrade to a Life Membership, you will get an exclusive Quail Forever Life Member YETI Hopper Flip 18 Cooler.
