FOR THE LOVE OF QUAIL - LIFELINES: HOLDING TIGHT TO WHAT LIFTS YOU "I can’t say that any one person or one moment threw me the lifeline of bird hunting; of fall days spent first alone — then alone with a dog — trying to leave the fears and insecurities of teenage life behind as I searched for feathers and solace and answers in the overgrown fencerows and shaggy, doomed, soon-to-be-sub-divided fields of my youth. Perhaps it wasn’t even thrown to me but was there all along, and I simply needed to grasp it. Some lifelines aren’t recognized as such until they need to be." Have you, or your dog, fallen victim to old fencing and barbed wire left in the areas that you hunt? Volunteers from Quail Forever, Pheasants Forever, Mule Deer Foundation, Fish and Game and the public joined IDL to remove nearly 2,300 pounds of old down fence from the Danskin (Idaho) area of the Southwest Supervisory Area. “As an upland bird hunter, the barbed wire can be brutal to one’s hunting dog, ripping their legs and bellies, resulting in a shortened hunting trip and expensive vet bills to get them stitched up,” said Darwin Waters president of Snake River Quail Forever, Chapter 3208. Read the full story at the link in our bio, and please consider contacting your local @quail_forever or @pheasants_forever chapters to find ways for you to get involved in clean-ups like this, so we can continue to improve the habitat we all benefit from. #pheasantsforever #quailforever #uplandhunting #conservation #habitat #wildlifehabitat #pheasanthunting #quailhunting

No matter what birds you decide to chase this season, doing so without breaking the bank is always the best way to go. If you agree with that statement, head to the link below to watch Birds On A Budget: Pinching Pennies While Chasing Roosters In South Dakota. Presented by @pheasants_forever & @onxhunt. Hit the link below to watch the full film. There is a common misconception associated with any extended hunting trip that hunters must come to terms with the fact that breaking the bank is a prerequisite to being successful. While you can certainly throw cash on the most lavish pursuit of upland birds, the inspiration for this film is to prove that you can chase coveted roosters on a budget that won’t require taking out a loan when you return home. To prove it, Andy Fondrick, digital marketing coordinator for Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever teamed up with onX Hunt’s own Ben Brettingen and loaded their dogs into the vehicle enroute to South Dakota, the pheasant capital of the world, for a financially responsible pheasant hunting road trip. #Quailforever #pheasantsforever #pheasanthunting #uplandhunting #onxhunt #birddog #pointingdog
