👮♂️🏈 Today, Lt. Trey Higginbotham stopped by Cullman High School and spent some time tossing the football with students.
At the Cullman Police Department, we believe community engagement goes far beyond the uniform; it’s about building relationships, creating trust, and being a positive presence in the lives of our youth. Moments like this make a big impact, reminding students that their Cullman Police officers are here to support, encourage, and connect with them both on and off duty.

Yesterday we had the pleasure of spending time with some amazing kids at Jolly’s Daycare and Cullman Christian School for Community Helpers Day. 🚔👮♂️ We brought along a patrol car for them to explore and handed out a little CPD swag—but let’s be honest, the helicopter always steals the show! 🚁
Opportunities like this are special because they allow us to connect with kids in a fun, positive way while showing them that police officers are here to help and protect. Building trust and relationships early is what community policing is all about! 💙
Tonight, the City of Cullman gathered at Depot Park, where the twin blue lights shone brightly in remembrance of September 11, 2001. First responders, city employees and community members stood together in solemn reflection, honoring the lives lost and the heroes who answered the call with courage and sacrifice.
For community member Brandon Kroelinger, the remembrance was deeply personal. He came to honor the memory of two friends he lost that day—Chandler Raymond Keller, a passenger on Flight 77, and Jeannine Marie Damiani-Jones, who was in the North Tower.
As a community, we pause to honor their memory, to stand with those who still carry the weight of loss, and to reaffirm our promise: we will never forget🇺🇸

An Important Day at Cullman High School
Today, Cullman High School welcomed the Love Like Lexi (LLL) Project — a powerful initiative focused on suicide awareness, prevention, and reminding students of their worth, purpose, and potential.
The program was inspired by the heartbreaking loss of Lexi Webb, a vibrant young woman who seemed to have it all. Her story is a sobering reminder that mental health matters and that the struggles people face aren’t always visible.
District Attorney Champ Crocker and Chief Joey Duncan were honored to attend today’s event and witness the impact of a community coming together in support of its youth:
“It’s one of the most important things we can do, show up for our students, remind them they matter, and make sure they know they’re not alone.” — Chief Joey Duncan
A heartfelt thank-you to the LLL team for bringing this life-giving message to Cullman High School, and to everyone who continues to be a light in someone’s darkness.

🇺🇸 Remembering September 11, 2001 🇺🇸
Today, we pause to honor the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the heroes who answered the call on September 11th, 2001.
We remember the first responders who ran toward danger, the service members who defended our freedom in the years that followed, and the everyday citizens who showed resilience and unity in the face of tragedy.
May we never forget their sacrifice, and may we always strive to live with the same courage, strength, and unity that carried our nation through those difficult days.
The Cullman Police Department stands with our community and our nation in remembrance.

We’re grateful for the strong relationship with Juvenile Probation and the teamwork that helps us better serve the families and community of Cullman County.
🌍 Welcoming International Students to Cullman 🌍
On Friday, we had the pleasure of hosting some special guests from the CPRST J1 Program, brought by Noah Carpenter from Cullman Parks, Recreation, & Sports Tourism.
The J1 Program is a travel, work, and education initiative formed through a partnership between CPRST and CIEE. It brings international college students to Cullman each summer to work at Wild Water while on break from their studies. Many students participate to strengthen their English skills, gain valuable cultural experiences, and prepare for opportunities in the global workforce.
We enjoyed giving them some Cullman Police Department swag, a quick tour, and lunch at Taziki's Mediterranean Cafe. It was a great time connecting, learning, and sharing a piece of Cullman hospitality!
A big thank you to Noah Carpenter and the CPRST team for letting us be part of this experience. 💙
🇺🇸 Honoring Our Heroes 🇺🇸
Today, Chief Duncan, alongside the Cullman County Commission, the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, and the Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs, paused to honor and remember all Alabama veterans who have tragically taken their own lives.
September is Veteran Suicide Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness, break the stigma, and stand united in supporting the men and women who served our country. Every day, around 17 veterans in the United States die by suicide—a sobering reminder that our duty to them does not end when they come home.
We can all play a part in making a difference:
✅ Check in on your veteran friends and family.
✅ Listen without judgment.
✅ Share resources like the Veterans Crisis Line—dial 988 then press 1 or text 838255 for immediate help.
✅ Support local veteran programs and organizations.
Our veterans stood for us—let’s continue to stand for them. 💙
