The Cullman County Fair Parade will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023. During the parade, highway 31 will be closed to traffic between Main Avenue NW and 9th Street SW. Road closures will begin around 1:30pm and last until around 4:30pm. For the safety of parade participants and viewers, please make alternative arrangements for travel. Note that the parade will start at 7th St SW traveling north on highway 31 to Arnold Street.

** Update on last nights shooting** 36 yr old John Wesley Drozda, was taken into custody just a short time ago at the Red Roof Inn in Hartselle. Thank you to Hartselle Police Department and Cullman PD Investigation Division for all of of hard work on the case. Drozda has been charged with Reckless Murder.

*** At approximately 10:55pm this evening a shooting took place near the 200 block of Hickory Ave SW. A male subject was critically injured and the suspect fled the the scene. The suspect, 36yr old, John Wesley Drozda, is at large and considered armed and dangerous. *** Please use caution and call 911 if you come in contact with Drozda. This is believed to be an isolated incident.

Early this Morning, Officer Roy Bates and Officer Daniel Palisay were patrolling in the area of Warnke Road SW. The Officers witnessed a silver Chevy Impala speeding through a parking lot, and it nearly struck their patrol vehicle as it entered the roadway. Once they stopped the vehicle, Officer Bates and Palisay were able to determine that the two had just committed a robbery at a nearby residence. Officer Bates and Palisay recovered the victim's stolen wallet, money, a cell phone and the weapon used in the robbery. Stanley Ray Menefee, 69yrs old, from Ensley, AL and Mark Ples Jones, 49 years old, from Bessemer, AL were arrested for Robbery 1st and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The Cullman Police Department would like to commend both Officer Bates and Officer Palisay for their outstanding work. Both suspects are currently incarcerated at the Cullman County Detention Center.

On Friday September 1st, the Cullman Police Department celebrated the retirement of Lieutenant Mick Harbison. Lieutenant Harbison served nearly 30 years with the department, most recently as the School Resource Officer Lieutenant. Thank you Lieutenant Harbison for your service to the department!
