It was a pleasure spending time with members of our community and having important conversations about recognizing scams, protecting personal information, and staying one step ahead of fraud. Events like this are a great example of how partnerships between local banks and law enforcement can make a real difference, especially when it comes to protecting our seniors and other vulnerable populations.

❄️Prepare for the Winter Storm ❄️
A winter storm is expected in our area. Now is the time to prepare and help keep yourself, your family, and our community safe.
Before the storm:
• Monitor local weather forecasts and emergency alerts
• Limit travel unless absolutely necessary
• Check on elderly neighbors, family, and those with special needs
• Bring pets indoors and ensure livestock have shelter
• Make sure you have extra food, water, medications, and baby supplies
• Charge phones and electronic devices; have flashlights ready
During the storm:
• Stay off the roads if possible
• If you must travel, reduce speed and allow extra distance
• Use space heaters safely and never run generators indoors
• Keep faucets dripping if temperatures drop below freezing
After the storm:
• Watch for downed power lines and report them immediately
• Use caution on roads—ice may not be visible
• Allow road crews time to treat and clear roadways
Our officers and first responders will be working throughout the storm. Please do your part to stay safe and reduce unnecessary calls for service.
Stay safe and look out for one another.
For Immediate Release:
On the morning of January 19th, 2026, Sergeant Rob Long observed a truck pulling a large trailer without trailer lights traveling on Highway 157. He conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle being driven by Dylan Van Keller of Baileyton. Mr. Keller stated a friend allowed him to borrow the trailer which had an AK Rentals decal displayed on the rear of the trailer. The VIN number for the trailer was given to Cullman City Communications and returned as not stolen.
A short time later Sergeant Long arrived at the new location of AK Rentals on Highway 157 and observed a trailer parked in an odd way which was identical to the one being hauled by Mr. Keller. Sergeant Long confirmed the VIN on the trailer was the same VIN Mr. Keller was hauling on the previous traffic stop. It was apparent Mr. Keller had brought the trailer back to AK Rentals location after the traffic stop.
Sergeant Long confirmed with AK Rentals the trailer was their property and Mr. Keller did not have authorization to be in possession of the trailer as it was being used for renovations of their new facility.
After consulting the Cullman County District Attorney's Office and with the help of the Deputy Blanton from the Cullman County Sheriff's Office, Mr. Keller was later located and arrested for Theft of Property 1st Degree.
We would like to recognize and appreciate the great work of Sgt. Long, along with the assistance provided by Deputy Blanton.
It is important to note all suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
