From the welcome to the goodbye (see you again) songs, we experienced the most genuine hospitality out of the 3 places we stayed in Fiji. Our room was quietly upgraded to a yurt without anyone making a fuss about it. Best Fish Kokoda in Fiji, as well as the best food: omakase dinner at Donu. We stayed the wrong two nights to join the scheduled trip to the Sawa-I-Lau caves, but multiple staff helped us and ultimately arranged a very reasonable private trip by boat. Not only did we enjoy a very special time just us and two guides chatting about our families in the cave, but we also got a bonus snorkel tour while we were there, with the most vibrant and healthy corals and fish we have ever seen and the clearest water. Even the reef just in front of the resort was amazing at high tide. The staff choir are surprisingly good singing in multi-part harmony. We had warm and personal interactions with many staff, who asked us about our cave trip, or shared over kava their personal experience being from the south island. We met the manager when we arrived and saw her every day on the property making sure that guests were taken care of. The only minor hiccups over our entire stay were miscommunications over pickup times on our arrival and departure, but these were quickly resolved.
