I chose to write this review after completing our trip across three different islands and resorts, and can say resoundingly that Blue Lagoon exceeded all our expectations and that in hindsight we wish we had just booked our full week there and never left.
There were three key highlights:
1. The staff and the culture at the resort was exceptional. All the staff were warm, welcoming and friendly. They all got along with each other, and went out of their way to help all the guests. They were constantly attending to the grounds and the accommodation like clearing away leaves daily and sweeping down porches from sand. It showed, the resort is well kept, tidy and feels loved.
2. Food was high quality and varied with the two restaurants. We tried both the Japanese and beachside restaurants and were blown away by the quality of both. The Japanese 10 course omakase degustation felt like an indulgent night out, while sitting on the beach side we had the best steak of our trip. Coffees are served with breakfast and lunch specials change daily. As much as it might feel frustrating paying a meal charge, Blue Lagoon put the effort in and makes it worth every dollar.
3. Both the free and paid activities varied daily and meant you were never without something to do or see. Swimming and snorkeling were right on the doorstep whenever you wanted as was a big inflatable slide into the ocean which was a delight to get on as an adult. We saw the staff choir, watched sunsets over the beach, participated in a kava ceremony and wished we had joined the night snorkel and cave trip - both of which looked like highlights.
I could go on. If there is any reason I'll come back to Fiji, it will be to come back here.
