Review: Extremely Dissatisfied with Goddard Vet Wanstead. Save your pet and time and take them elsewhere. These are money hungry and care about your pockets.
I recently had an extremely disappointing experience at Goddard Wanstead veterinary hospital, and I feel compelled to share my dissatisfaction with the level of care and service provided. My visit on 27/06/2023 with Vet Emily Stacey turned out to be a deeply frustrating and distressing ordeal for both my dog Milo and myself.
During the examination, Vet Emily Stacey confidently diagnosed a grass seed lodged in Milo's right ear canal, which led to the recommendation of a sedation procedure scheduled for the next day, 28/06/2023. However, to our utter shock and dismay, we were later informed by Vet Hilary Lau that there was nothing found in Milo's ears, and she claimed that Milo must have miraculously "shaken out" the supposed grass seed within a mere 16 hours. This explanation appeared implausible and left us feeling deceived and mistreated.
The false information provided regarding my pet's condition is particularly distressing. Witnessing Milo go through unnecessary procedures has caused tremendous stress and anxiety for both him and myself. It has led me to suspect that the veterinary practice may be engaging in dubious practices solely to generate more revenue, potentially taking advantage of insurance policies.
The conduct I experienced at Goddard Wanstead borders on a scam. It seems evident that the vets at this practice are under pressure from management to upsell procedures and convince pet owners into unnecessary treatments. This unethical approach is not only morally wrong but also profoundly unfair to the animals involved. Our beloved pets should never endure unnecessary stress or invasive procedures simply to line the pockets of the veterinary practice.
I implore the management of Goddard Wanstead to thoroughly investigate this matter and take appropriate action against such practices within their organization. Transparency, honesty, and the highest level of care should be paramount when it comes to our furry companions. Regrettably, this experience has severely damaged my trust in Goddard, and I sincerely hope that steps will be taken to rectify this situation and prevent its recurrence in the future.
Furthermore, I would like to highlight another concerning incident that occurred during our previous visit to Goddard Wanstead. Approximately two weeks ago, Milo developed a cough, prompting us to bring him to the practice for an evaluation on a weekend. The out-of-hours vet we saw at that time did not provide their name. After examining our dog, they confirmed that Milo did not have kennel cough and prescribed anti-inflammatory and antihistamine medication. We also mentioned our concerns about Milo's ear, but the vet dismissed it, claiming it would be too painful for him to have his ear examined.
Throughout the night, Milo's coughing worsened, leading us to contact the practice the following morning. We were advised to bring him in, expecting the endoscopy procedure to be performed. However, upon arrival, Vet Hillary Lau informed us that it was merely a consultation, incurring an additional cost, and the procedure would not take place that day. The endoscopy was rescheduled for a few days later.
On the scheduled day, Milo underwent sedation and the endoscopy procedure, only to find nothing abnormal. However, we were then convinced to proceed with an X-ray, hoping to uncover the underlying cause. The X-ray results showed abnormal coloring in Milo's lungs, appearing white and grey instead of the usual black. Again, we were persuaded to pursue further investigation by sending a sample to the lab to test for various conditions. Results - nothing wrong with him.
