My cat had to have some fiddly surgery back in early February, the surgery itself went well but various things happened during his recovery - nothing that was caused by the vets btw (stopped eating so had to have a feeding tube fitted, then he vomited the end of the tube up and lacerated his own mouth with his claws and needed stitches) so it was quite a lengthy period of recovery.
I just want to publicly thank the team at the hospital, my cat spent in total something like 7 or 8 nights hospitalised, and they treated him very kindly and gave him plenty of attention (he's a very affectionate and friendly cat), and I was able to visit and given plenty of time with him during visits, as well as being able to ask questions about his care while I was there.
Before the initial surgery, the vet spent a while explaining what would be done, that there would likely be a stay in hospital, and what care he would need when he came home. I asked beforehand for a consultation appointment rather than just drop him off for surgery because I was anxious, and the vets and other staff were wonderful.
I never felt as though I was bothering anyone when I phoned with a query or a worry while my cat was hospitalised, or when he was being cared for back at home.
There's a cat-only waiting area with feliway plugins and feliway towels to put over a carrier which is a big help, cats are already stressed enough in a carrier away from home, especially when sick or injured.
I always felt as though nothing was too much trouble, including arranging pet-friendly cabs for us to get back home.
They lost our cat carrier, but gave us a better one in return so even that is a positive!
Full marks from me. My cat had his feeding tube removed and is well on the road to recovery, and everyone there deserves my thanks for helping to save my cat and make him better.
