I recently visited the vet for a follow up appointment following an operation my dog had at another vets. My appointment was at 5:15 but I didn't get seen until 5:45. These things happen but it would have been nice if one of the three receptionist acknowledged the fact. Once seen the vet performed a check on my dog which took all of three minutes and this cost me £45. He also noticed a slight skin compliant on my and gave me a tube of gel for it. once at the reception desk to pay I found the gel was going to cost £30 so refused it, I then checked online to find the average price for the same size tube of gel is £9, quite a difference. Prior to this I took my dog in because he was having a lot of problems moving. He saw a vet who misdiagnosed his symptoms as a stomach issue. The meeting and medicine cost somewhere in the region of £500. A lot of money for a misdiagnosis. As my dog still had the complaint I returned and the vet he saw the second time correctly diagnosed my dogs spinal issue just from looking at the way he walked - The first vet didn't even look at this, she just squeezed his stomach. I understand that mistakes can happen but when a full check of my dogs condition didn't happen and I had to pay out £500 for basically nothing it leaves a very bad taste in your mouth. Over the last couple of months I've had to pay over £2000 to the vet and the more I visit the more I get the feeling that the people working here are equally trained in the art of selling as they are as vets.
