Shameful group of uncaring, cold, rude and dispassionate ‘vets’. They have no care or compassion for animals whatsoever. This is purely a business to them.
I found a stray dog that had been on the loose for 2 days, he was very nervous and scared and traumatised. I called Goddard to be told that if I bought him in, they would scan him and keep him in that night and that bringing him in would mean I would hand over care to them. Based on this advice I took him in. I advised the vet that he was nervous, she instantly seemed reluctant and like she didn’t want to bother. As we walked in he was jumping and barking and lurched forward and nipped her. She didn’t scream, there was no blood or mark on her trousers but that was it, she disappeared off, not prepared to help.
A second vet came out and was clearly irritated by the whole issue and said they wouldn’t accept him, he had but a staff member, they didn’t want to deal with him. I had to persuade them to let ME use the scanner to scan him for a microchip. This showed that he was owned. The vet came back, said that the owners didn’t want him and that they wouldn’t take him either. This was at gone 11 at night. I explained how I already have a small dog at home and 3 small children and couldn’t take him home. The vet basically said they wouldn’t help but went off to speak to a manager. I then came across the ultimate rude member of staff. She was unbelievably dismissive when I asked her what could be done, she said I could take the dog to the police but whatever happens they aren’t helping. I explained that I had called in advance to check that they would help and she rudely said I was wrong or the person on the phone was wrong. I asked to use their phone to call the police for help as mine had ran out of battery and she literally laughed in my face and said ‘no, as if you don’t have a cell phone’. When I pointed out that supposedly they are meant to care about animals but they just want to abandon this dog, she marched over, got in my face and started yelling about the suicide rate in vets?!
None of the people at the practice cared in the slightest what happens to a clearly terrified, unwanted dog. Literally they could not care less. The man in the waiting room cared more than this bunch. To add to the lack of compassion, they all just had an air of disdain and irritation. The last woman just shouldn’t be allowed to deal with people because she is just unbelievably rude and unhinged. I am shocked to say it but the police were far more understanding, kind, caring and helpful than these people, and that was on a day when there had been a huge incident in the area and they were stretched and short staffed.
