We just built a 14x16 deck using the double set of brackets and they were great. I read some comments about the wood being difficult to fit into the brackets but that's not the fault of the brackets, it's the nature of wood. We had one 14 foot span and naturally there was a curve to the beam, so we had to chamfer all 4 corners of one end to get it to fit. If I can offer 1 tip it would be to have a wood file or hand plane or better yet, a power hand planer....boy do I wish I had one! The sizing of the brackets is just right, any bigger and the lumber would have a sloppy fit. Our build was on an upper level deck, within the confines of a railing, so that posed challenges too. Another tip is to either chamfer or round over the corners of all the corners of the post so they start into the brackets easier, especially when you're trying to do that 8 feet in the air!
I'm always leery about buying online because I can't see and feel the quality of the product but these Toja brackets are good and sturdy with quality finishing.
Yes, they cost more but I was proud to be supporting a Canadian company!!
