Where do I begin to tell you how I recommend Sam Ivy K-9 dog training? Excellent and 5 ⭐️‘S. I had such great concerns where I adopted a dog from the kill shelter with history of cruelty and abuse. In my home we already had a dog and a cat ( cat-who thinks he is a dog) that are of nice personalities. After bringing the new dog (4yrs old) home, she displayed a trigger for cats, prey trigger. She tried to bite and chased my poor kitty cat who wanted to make friends. Yikes, home already disrupted with potential mayhem. My other dog was reacting to the new dog and the home had such uneasiness. This dog was not potty trained, nor knew how to walk on a leach. This dog was very strong and hyper. We were starting from scratch. Alexis ( fantastic gal) became my instructor and she teaches you the pack dog mentality in how the owners are the Alpha dog and the rest of the animals must follow their pack leader which was me. Training begins with basic rules and correction ( tools supplied). These reinforcements are to make sure the commands are followed. Each step brought this new adopted dog who had no rules become a wonderful student. Alexis is an amazing dog trainer and knows the behavior of dogs through years of working with them. She also brings her dog Marley to help with behaviors towards other dogs. After working with Marley, my sons both brought my gradpups over on the weekends, I was a bit nervous. Alexis guided me to how to integrate the extended members to the family. Her suggestions of integration, well, all went great. My cat which was a huge concern, now the new dog and cat are best friends. The new dog had to realize the cat is part of the pack and that she is the newest in the pecking order. We are all a happy family. My older dog had old habits with walking and now she is better too. The key is you must keep working with the training instructions and reinforce the pecking order of the home and how the animal have to earn respect with good behavior with Alpha dog, ME and my husband. It is sad many people adopt older animals and expect them to do well at the get go. If it doesn’t happen fast, people tend to return them back to the pound. It took me 2 1/2 months to get what we achieved ( it can take up to 6 mos to 1 yr for some animals ) and I will continue to use the techniques to have a happy home with my fur babies. I recommend them highly if you love your animals. Patience is the game. Arlana D.

We got our new addition to the family from the Humane Society. The dog, Rusty, was a 6 month old mixed breed. He was classified as friendly, easy going and good around other dogs. When we got him home (he had just been neutered) he was calm and sleepy. Several hours later he turned into a dynamo. He would not stop jumping on us and everything else in sight. No matter what we did, we could not control him. We figured he needed exercise. After a 2 mile walk he would continue with his uncontrollable antics. We took him to the dog park so he could run with other dogs. This turned out to be a disaster as he would start jumping on the other dogs and eventually this would lead to fighting. We decided to build a large fenced in play area in the back yard. When we let him out he would start digging holes. He could dig a 12 inch deep hole in 5 seconds. The only thing we could do was walk him 10 times a day. We contacted a dog trainer and, using her methods could control him as long as we kept rewarding him with snacks. As soon as the we stopped giving him snacks he reverted back to his spazzy self. When we took him to our Vet, she advised giving him some serious training and referred us to Sam Ivy Consultants. From the first day when our trainer Blas took over we knew we were saved and within a week we saw the change in our dog. He is still the lovable affectionate dog he always was but he does not jump on people or counters, does not dig holes, does not pull during walks, does not continually bark at nothing, does not nip at your heels when you walk. He is well mannered and a joy to have. Blas is an excellent trainer and very professional. If you call this company and get a trainer 1/2 as good as our trainer, Blas, you are in luck. I most highly recommend this company to anyone who has a dog they cannot control. Thank you Blas and Sam Ivy.

Exactly what we needed and we can’t wait to continue what we’ve learned! Thanks to amazing Alexis, our year-old German Shepard, Fenway, is no longer running our lives like he was for the first 9 months of his existence. We went from not being able to control Fen walking on the leash to being able to walk with him side-by-side off leash in a public space! Everywhere we go we get wonderful compliments on how well behaved our boy is and we always direct our thanks to Alexis and Sam Ivy. The most interesting part of this process was that we as owners had to train ourselves just as much, if not more, than the dog itself and I think that is a crucial part in ensuring consistency and longevity of good behavior. I have seen so many costly programs do with the work without the involvement of the owner and it never sticks. We are so thankful for Alexis and her dedication to Fen and US. It has helped our lives tremendously and we are forever grateful!

Absolutely worth the time and every penny. Blas helped us quickly learn how to properly correct what we thought was impossible behavior. He likely helped us save our dog's life. We were blown away at how quickly we stopped the barking and mayhem caused by the doorbell. Cats and delivery people are no longer distractions and triggers of aggressive behavior. This outfit is legit, and staff like Blas are hard to comer by these days. They really care and it shows in their results.
