I was hesitant to try the pasties de nata at first. I’ve had the ones in Portugal and they weren’t really my thing. Shockingly, I was mistaken and the pasties here tasted BETTER than where they originated from. Not to knock them, but I think that what you all have cooking in the kitchen, is real magic.

Wow. Best Pastéis De Nata in NYC. Coffee is also 10/10! They don’t have seats inside, but you can sit outside. The area is heated, so even on a cold day (2 degrees Celsius) it was fine. Friendly staff too. High recommend, even though it’s a bit off the beaten track for most people visiting NYC. Worth it!

I never sat inside at this place. I just have stopped by to pick up their Pasteis De Nata. It is like a croissant and custard had a baby. You get 2 in a little box. My only complaint about this place is that they never have the Cod Fritters when I ask for them. The prices are good. Someday I have to try something else on their menu.

Amazing Portuguese egg tarts! You can also buy a pack of six frozen to take home and bake them at a later time. They increased the price to $4 per egg tart ($20 for a 6-pack) but it’s worth it! The dining area / location is not the best but the food served is top-notch!

Best Natas in New York. Try the traditional, they are so good. Found the passionfruit great, but a bit sweet for my taste

Joey Bats has the best Portuguese food selection in NYC and that really says enough to visit it as Portuguese cuisine is some of the richest, most unique and celebrated in Europe. Outside of Manhattan there are pockets where you can find Portuguese food, but Joey Bats is the place that makes it the most accessible! From their wine based cocktails to their absolutely perfect Delta espresso and Pasteis de Nata are you die for! They always seem to be innovating new kinds of snack foods and sandwiches and the menu is changing constantly and always worth checking out.

It’s just good pastel de nata done right. The owner, who also took my order and served me, was super nice. Honestly some of the best pastel de nata I’ve ever had.

Not only are the Portuguese egg tarts a league above what you'd normally get, but their other food options are also extremely good.

I love this place. I grew up with a lot of Portuguese food and pastry and this place, hands down, has the best in the city! Their coffee is probably some of the best in the city as well. If you are an Espresso fan then Joey Bats is your NYC Mecca! They have Delta, a Portuguese coffee brand that is probably the finest coffee sold in Europe, and they have an industrial strength espresso machine that ensures a perfect crème that lasts on top. I love all of their pastry, but the sausage bread is the best for savory fare and Pastel de Nata for sweet!
