Student Leaders and helpers are busy sorting and organising all the donations received so far from our generous community for Mama Lana’s. So far we’ve collected over 1000 items which will go to helping out most vulnerable and often forgotten community members. There’s still one more week of collection, so if you’d like to donate any toiletry or non-perishable items it will be most appreciated. #mamrelearning

In science this term year 2 have been looking at the Earth’s natural resources. 2E looked at the natural resource water and discussed ways they can save it. They then created posters encouraging people to use water wisely. 2E are here to save the planet one leaking tap at a time! 🌏🚰 #mamrelearning

The children in the ELC have been exploring Volcanoes. We conducted an experiment using vinegar and bi-carb soda, the children loved watching it erupt. We also made and drew volcanoes 🌋. #mamrelearning

During the mid year school holidays while we were all enjoying time out and about, Imogen Coward of Year 11 was already in front of her computer zooming. Imogen, amongst 100 other passionate young scientists from around Australia, successfully gained entry into the prestigious International Science School (ISS) run by Sydney University, and committed a week of her holidays to attending online. Mornings were spent at lectures, including learning about the value of masks in a pandemic; the middle of the day was for laboratory tours to experience "a day in the life of.." university students studying robotics, biology, psychology, chemistry, physics etc. Workshops were in the afternoon - Sydney University had sent out a package of goodies for all of the students to engage in experiments during this time. One of these involved investigating the question "Is the second law of thermodynamics wrong?" (The entropy or disorder of the universe is increasing). Imogen has made some great contacts with the University staff as well as some new friends with similar passions. What an amazing experience. We are very proud of you Imogen and hope that next year you can attend in person. #mamrelearning

Year 3 Geography and Map Making. Exploring our backyard 3B and 3S took a walk into our very own patch of bush and investigated Indigenous methods of communicating using mud maps. #mamrelearning
