As the holiday season approaches, the Cullman Police Department urges residents to be vigilant about rising scam attempts, particularly those involving major shipping carriers like USPS, UPS, FedEx, and online retailers like Amazon. If you receive a suspicious email, text, or phone call claiming to be from any of these entities, contact the Cullman Police Department at 256-734-1434 before responding or sending any money. Do not send funds to the potential scammers without first verifying the legitimacy of the request with the police. Being proactive can help protect you from falling victim to holiday-related fraud.

Going trick-or-treating tonight? Here are some safety tips from the Cullman Police Department.
PEDESTRIANS:
- Create a "buddy system" to get each other home safely and prevent walking alone.
- Follow the rules of the road and obey signs and signals.
- If possible, cross the streets at crosswalks or intersections. Look for cars in all directions, including those turning left or right.
- Stay visible: Carry a flashlight or glow stick
- Inspect your candy and discard any open items.
DRIVERS:
- Be alert for trick-or-treaters.
- Slow down and scan the road.
- Watch for trick-or-treaters in unexpected places. Children may be unaware of traffic and dart out into the street unexpectedly.

- Make sure your headlights are turned on.
- If you see an impaired driver, contact the Cullman Police Department.
PARENTS: Try not to eat all of your kid's candy when they fall asleep!
