On June 12, 2024, two females entered both CVS stores in Cullman and proceeded to steal approximately $4,330 in merchandise. CPD Investigators Watkins, Riddlesperger, and Sgt Higginbotham began gathering evidence and were able to determine that the females also had committed other thefts in neighboring jurisdictions. A vehicle description and license plate number were obtained and a Regional BOLO was sent out to locate the vehicle.
During the late evening hours of June 13, Homewood Police Department located the vehicle, and the two female suspects were detained. CPD Investigators went to Homewood and placed both females under arrest.
After the execution of a search warrant on the suspect vehicle, it was determined that the females had committed thefts at twelve different CVS stores across Alabama and had stolen approximately $34,300 in merchandise from CVS during those thefts. A large portion of the stolen property was recovered from the suspect vehicle.
Rosanna Imelda Bita and Ana Maria Larisa Bita were both charged with two counts of Organized Retail Theft, and both face numerous charges in other counties across the state.
A special thanks to Homewood PD and other assisting agencies, as well as the Cullman County District Attorney's Office and District Attorney Champ Crocker for their help with this case.
