Our School Resource Officers completed an exceptional week of training, showcasing their commitment to excellence. They demonstrated proficiency with their firearms, successfully qualifying with their weapons systems. Additionally, they underwent comprehensive Taser certification training with the latest Taser 10 models. The training also included CPR certification, legal updates, and defensive tactics. The week concluded with rigorous building clearing and active shooter drills, further enhancing their preparedness. We are extremely proud of their dedication and accomplishments.

🎯⚾ What a Day in Cullman! ⚾🎯 Today, we had an absolute blast cheering on our seniors as they faced off in a Cornhole Baseball Tournament at Wallace State Community College! Teams from senior centers all across Cullman County brought the competition — and plenty of laughs. A big thank you to the Cullman Municipal Court ladies for stepping in as umpires and to the Cullman Commission on Aging for inviting us to be part of such a fun and meaningful event. Spending time with our senior community is always a highlight! We also had the privilege of attending The OmniPlex Ribbon Cutting — a truly exciting addition to our city. This premier sports complex is set to host a wide variety of tournaments, events, and camps, helping bring even more energy, opportunity, and visitors to Cullman. Today, the Cullman Police Department mourns the loss of former Cullman County Coroner and long-time Cullman PD Reserve Officer, Gary Murphree. Gary faithfully served our department and community for over 40 years as a reserve officer, from May 1981 until October 2022. We extend our deepest condolences to Gary’s family, friends, and all who had the honor of serving alongside him. He will be remembered for his commitment to public service and his unwavering support of law enforcement. Thank you, Gary, for your decades of service. There was plenty of friendly smack talk, big smiles, and even bigger laughs — but more importantly, it was a great reminder of how meaningful it is to spend time with those who laid the foundation for our community. Traffic will be detoured around the work area as follows: ▪️US 278 WB traffic will turn left onto 9th Avenue SE, then right onto 4th Street SE, and then right onto 4th Avenue SE back to US 278. ▪️US 278 EB traffic will turn right onto 6th Avenue SE, then left onto 4th Street SE, and then left onto 9th Avenue SE back to US 278.
