STAGE 2 SCIENCE WEEK WORKSHOP |
To celebrate Science Week at Mamre, Stage 2 students and teachers completed four different physics workshops that focused and reflected on Newton's 3 Laws of Motion. We had the pleasure of special guests from our Senior School too with visits and assistance from Dr Silburn and some of our Year 10 Students. All the students enjoyed experimenting, making catapults and shooting rockets. It was a wonderful time celebrating Science Week. 🧪

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART x Mamre Anglican School | ❤️🫀
It’s that time of year again! Students in Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6 at Mamre Anglican School are participating in the Heart Foundation’s Jump Rope for Heart Program and we would love your support! Our goal this year is a donation of $8,000!
What is the Heart Foundation?
The Heart Foundation is a charity dedicated to fighting Australia’s biggest killer, heart disease. Currently, 580,000 Australians are living with heart disease, and each year more than 57,000 Australians experience a heart attack. The Heart Foundation fights for an Australia free of heart disease. The organisation’s work focuses on prevention, support, and research to improve heart health and quality of life for all Australians. Throughout Term 3, the SRC will plan a number of activities to educate the Junior School about heart disease and the importance of living an active, healthy lifestyle.
What is Jump Rope for Heart?
The Heart Foundation’s Jump Rope for Heart Program is an exciting and non-competitive initiative that encourages children to become more active by learning new skills while raising vital funds for heart research and community health programs. Over the next few weeks, your child(ren) will be learning a range of fun skipping skills and new tricks. We will emphasise the importance of regular physical activity and healthy eating for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The Jump Rope for Heart program was officially launched during Chapel on Friday 2 August.

NAIDOC WEEK CHAPEL SERVICE // A special Chapel was held today for NAIDOC week, which commences on Sunday. We came together to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We heard from Uncle Leon who shared his story as an Aboriginal Christian Pastor and we listened to the sounds of the didgeridoo.

KINDERGARTEN LIBRARY DRESS UP DAY // On Wednesday Kindergarten had a wonderful day dressing up for their Library lessons. Which book characters can you recognise? They loved listening to The Very Cranky Bear by Nick Bland and enjoyed a craft activity making their own Cranky Bears.

SEMI-FINAL SUCCESS // Our Open Boys Football team travelled to Coffs Harbour earlier this week to compete with Bishop Druitt College in the CIS Cup Semi-Final. The overnight trip served a good purpose as the boys were treated to what it would be like as a professional travelling team: team meetings, team dinners and a team walk were all on the agenda. The boys played in good spirits and had a convincing win with a 3-1 final score, earning themselves a place in our first ever CIS Cup Grand Final.

PLANNING FOR NAIDOC // Yesterday, our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from Junior and Senior School enjoyed morning-tea together to inform planning for NAIDOC week. Capturing student voice is an important way to ensure we celebrate events such as NAIDOC in an authentic way. Students discussed ways to honour God and culture during NAIDOC and in particular within our whole school chapel being held on Friday 5th July.

NEW RECRUITS // Today our newest recruits in Mamre Cadet Rural Fire Brigade received their RFS uniforms. We managed to take this photo just before they started training this afternoon using fire hoses and hydrants. The uniforms weren’t quite as clean (or dry!) when they had finished.
