Just returned from an 11-day solo trip around Iceland in my Happy Camper van. It was epic, and the car was perfect for my adventure. The car was equipped with a tablet that acts as a WiFi hot spot (which was great for saving on data usage on my phone), a small "kitchen", and the couch/bed was comfortable and big enough (I'm 6'4") for me to get a good nights rest. Make sure if you travel during the winter months, you get a link from them or their website for the campsites that are open year round.
I did run into a few issues during my trip, but with a quick call to the Happy Camper staff and their 24-hour help line, we were able to sort out most of the issues. A few of those issues:
1. My heater stopped working one night. I had accidentally knocked the thermostat loose while sleeping and just needed to pop it back into place.
2. The pump to the faucet stopped working. I had pulled too hard and accidentally disconnected the plunger. Again, quick call to the staff and they were able to walk me through fixing the issue myself.
The one issue they weren't able to help with was my fridge didn't work. It froze everything I put into it. So I wasn't able to store any eggs for breakfast, deli meat for sandwiches or fresh veggies for cooking. They refunded me a generous amount for the inconvenience, though.
Overall, if you are planning a trip around Iceland I highly recommend using Happy Campers. Their staff is awesome, the price was extremely reasonable, and their vans are reliable and will get you around the country in comfort. Excited to plan my next trip back!
