My Mechanic
The only way to see Iceland is in a Happy camper van. We had a 4x4 van and while most off roads were still closed. Where there is a will there is a way! The Van performed great and it had all the things we needed to feel safe and sound.
The tips and pointers from the staff was very much appreciated and really helpful.
My wife wants to go back and rent a van for longer. Trip of a lifetime! Thank you Happy camper

We rented a camper van from Happy Campers for our trip around Iceland, and it was honestly one of the best decisions we made. The van was super clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a smooth road trip. But what really made the experience even better was the amazing customer service, especially Marina!
Marina was incredibly helpful from the start. She answered all our questions, made sure we were fully prepared for the road, and was just super friendly throughout the whole process. You can tell she genuinely cares about making sure people have a great experience.
Huge thanks to Marina and the whole Happy Campers team. We’d definitely rent with them again next time we’re in Iceland!

I loved my Happy 1 van for 10 days in Iceland! It had everything I needed to be comfortable. When I arrived, Bartosz and Eliška were super helpful and explained everything I needed to know.
The kitchenette was super easy to use, and the bed was actually super comfortable. The heater was great for rainy nights and the vent made sure it wasn’t stuffy. It had plenty of storage. I did spring for wifi which was the right choice because I could download a ton of music, audiobooks, and directions for the drive with no concerns about data. I definitely didn’t need the sleeping bag for May because they provide a ton of blankets and offer extras if you want.
The best part about the van was I could take advantage of the midnight sun and see places that are crowded during the day absolutely empty at night. The freedom and flexibility were priceless.

We traveled Iceland in a Happy Camper 2EX. Happy Camper provides a quality experience with their vans. The van performed flawlessly providing a great way to see the sites. The Happy Camper staff is great to work with being very welcoming and helpful. We met Arber who picked us up and did much of the check in. Marina did a great job orienting us to the van as well as serving us on the return. We especially enjoyed that she took time just to have a conversation with us while waiting for a ride back to the airport. We also met Marta who kindly drove us back to the airport.
The only thing I wished we would have connected on is the fact that Happy Camper has a small campground at the facility. We would have used it the last night. I may have missed it on the website. We would definitely use Happy Camper again but probably a taller unit:).
Months prior to arriving we had to make small changes in our schedule which Happy Camper made easy work of.

Had an amazing weeklong experience in Iceland with the Happy Camper 4x4. Eliska and Bartosz provided excellent customer service and made sure I had everything I needed and answered all questions before and during my trip. For a solo traveler, this van was perfect. I slept great every night especially with built in heating and had no issues throughout my over 1000km trip. I plan on making multiple trips to Iceland and will always rent from Happy Campers!

I whole-heartedly recommend Happy Campers; really really! The whole experience was magnificent, from pre-trip advice, the booking process, the pick-up, vehicle quality, and the check-out. Super-friendly staff. If you are considering whether a road trip is the best way to see Iceland- it really is! No complex research needed, Happy Campers have all the info you need.

Amazing experience from start to finish. The campervan was very good, we rented it for a week and drove over 600km. There are camping sites all over the island. The people working at Happy Campers are lovely and very helpful. 100% recommended

Great experience using Happy Campers for 8 days. The team was thorough, very friendly and eager to ensure we had a terrific time. We acclimated to camping life very quickly. Other than less than comfy pillows, the camper, Happy Camper team, and of course Iceland were fantastic.

This will be long. We rented the Happy 2 (formerly 2-3pax) for 10 days in May 2025. Overall a great experience! Shuttle runs every hour, but account for delays as they can sometimes get caught in traffic. We appreciated the pickup after a red eye flight
Pickup / Drop off is a breeze. Staff is amazing! They can give you lots of tips and tricks and answer any questions.
Office has a free shelf, coffee and washrooms!
Now for our experience:
Pros:
- the team was amazing and helpful
- our car had a brief issue with battery and needed to be jump started. A kind, fellow happy camper helped with that. Later, the car wouldnt start when we arrived at the campsite. The emwrgency line is 10/10! They sent a mechanic in skaftafell campsite at 11pm no issues. Very grateful for this service.
- we chose the happy 2 for the big bed. And it paid off! We had a camping mattress but the bed is spacious for 2 people. Could fit a child too, but definitely would be tight with 3 adults
- the car drives really well, can handle inclines and gravel roads (PLEASE GET THE INSURANCE)
- camper comes with all necessities for cooking, staying. We brought some extras like our own pillows and linens for comfort
- heater works fantastic! It got pretty warm, no problem heating all night
- diesel driven cars, they have very long range of fuel
- gas canister lasted 10 days no problem
- convenient charging ports
- the curtains get very dark. It never really gets "night" in May, so we appreciated the nice curtains
- fridge is really big for two people. Van had Lot of storage in general
- hanging hooks in the back on two sides, very convenient for hang drying clothes
- all utensils etc provided
- you can ask for extra pillows / blankets / pots and pans from the office
Now for the (small) cons:
- they offer discounts at specific gas stations. For us, unfortunately, the discount tabs did not work when we tapped it
- the car key battery stopped working mid way, but because we had the mechanic visit he was able to reset it for us
- NOT A CON because we got the help BUT our car battery did need to be jumped, and later needed electrical reset
- the pantry could use pot lids, a cutting board and a strainer. This is probably my fault for not checking after a red eye flight, but there are extra pots / kitchen utensils you can grab from the office for free
- the pillows are a little flat if you like puffy strong pillows. Though I don't think they are totally bad. If you are specific about them, carry your own
Again, the staff is AMAZING! I think compared to other companies I appreciated this van for the space and conveniences (especially the shuttle)

We traveled around Iceland for 5 days doing the golden circle and south coast and loved every minute of it.
The van experience was new to both of us but was easy to learn and we can't imagine doing it any other way. The few minor issues we had (mainly the fridge becoming a freezer) were easily solved by customer support.
I would like to mention Marina specifically from the office, she helped plus out immensely with recommendations, insider tips and general information to have the best trip possible, THANK YOU MARINA !
If you are on the fence about this van trip or what company to use - get off the fence and become a happy camper!

Booked camper van from April 22-29, whole experience was smooth right from pickup to drop off.
Courteous and friendly staff-explained everything patiently.
Warning lights flashed once midway during the trip, received immediate response from their Whatsapp emergency number.-asked us to keep heading towards our next destination and arranged a mechanic 5 mins from town center. Mechanic checked everything and was out from the workshop in 45 mins.
Would love to visit this beautiful country again and if Im coming back ,I'm definitely renting from them.

Brilliant experience. I was a little apprehensive about hiring a camper but it was perfect. We had the Happy 1 and it was everything we needed. A little snug - but that's what we signed up for. It is definitely enough for 2 people. We loved being able to cook anywhere, especially as we visited in their winter (April) and be get changed after a downpour. The van was cosy and we didn't need sleeping bags in April. We've been to Iceland before but this is hands down the best way to do it. We did 14 days around the whole island. Loved every moment!
All the staff at happy campers were lovely, friendly and informative. They were thorough with showing you the van, rules of the road etc. They were also just super nice when you asked questions about the country too and what it's like living there.
No problems at all with the van, ran smoothly the whole trip (3000km added to the clock) but we felt comfortable having all the contact information to hand in case something did go wrong.
Just perfect! Thank you Happy Campers! 10/10 would recommend.

We absolutely loved our experience with Happy Campers! We stayed in both hotels and the campervan and actually slept better in the campervan! It was so cute and cozy. We had a little trouble opening the bed after a few days (the mechanism seemed to be jamming or something), but that was the only issue (we did get the older model).
Next time, we will forego the camping card and just choose sites marked on the Happy Campers map (we didn't get our monies worth with the card during the shoulder season). We loved seeing the incredible landscape, hiking to waterfalls, and riding the Icelandic horses. Our favorite part of Iceland has been the hot pots/hot springs.
As for the Happy Campers team, Bartosz and Eliška were very friendly and helpful!
