Our experience with Happy Campers was great from beginning to end.
We received friendly email reminders of our booking including tips on what to pack, friendly shuttle service from the airport and were greeted with smiles and jokes about not driving the van into the sea due to insurance restrictions :)
We encountered a flat tire on our trip but thanks to the tire insurance the cost of repair would be refunded to us - highly recommend tire insurance!
Easy and painless process all around! We will definitely be using Happy Campers on our next trips to Iceland.

Had a very good experience with Happy Campers. Of course renting a van in Iceland is never really cheap (*nothing* in Iceland is cheap except water), but HC is still relatively affordable and transparent about the costs. Staff was very friendly and took the time explaining everything, we even had a very last minute request accomodated while on our trip. The office is more than just a rental desk, they really made it into a great starting off point for travelling around Iceland with maps, coupons, tips and even a lot of "leftovers" from previous campers (including ours, now). We rented the smallest van which worked for two people riding around the ring road - a bit cramped with all our luggage but we got used to that pretty quickly. The woodwork looks a little DIY but does the job well. It was well equipped and pretty economical with fuel, so perfect for our 11 day trip. Only clear downside is that it was not isolated, so without the heater on (which we only used sparingly - other people used it much more) it did get quite cold a couple of nights - I don't know if it's better for the bigger ones. But in general, if you want to traverse the ring road definitely consider HC. Oh, and do take additional insurance - we had the happier bundle and it was really a load off our minds.

I rented a Happy Camper Auto1 campervan for a solo Ring Road trip around Iceland. I had a fantastic experience overall. The camper had everything that I needed. When I had questions along the way, the Happy Camper staff was very attentive and helpful. It was honestly an experience of a lifetime and I already miss my little red camper! I would highly recommend renting from happy Camper!!

Awesome place to rent a camper van for the ring road trip! We rented the Happy 1 with an insurance package and a few extras such as BBQ grill, table and chairs, etc. The cost came out to less than $200 per day, which we thought was pretty good considering it was transportation and lodging in one happy package. The van was clean and well stocked, and we had no issues.
The Happy 1 is very compact, and required a little maneuvering at bedtime, as the bed takes up the entire back of the camper. We ended up having to put our suitcase in the front overnight to get it out of the way. Wasn’t bad for us, but if you want a little more space you may want to go with a bigger option. I would recommend not getting many extras, as there is not a lot of storage space. We probably wouldn’t bother with a grill if we go again, as most food can be cooked on the included camping stove.
The staff was competent and very pleasant to deal with. We appreciated the free shuttle to/from Keflavik Airport. We’d definitively use Happy Campers again if/when we return to Iceland!

Happy Campers is the way to go when travelling to Iceland. The community is so wonderful and the service was impeccable. The staff who checked us in initially were super informative about the vehicle and made sure we knew everything we needed to know before heading out. Our bus had a few issues along the way in our two week stay but Bart was the one who helped us out. He was extremely understanding and was able to assist us when we needed it in such short notice. We rented the Happy 2 and it had more than enough room for me and my fiancé and a long enough bed for me without dangling off the edge.The van was extremely fuel efficient and was by far the only way to travel in Iceland. I completely recommend Happy Campers to anyone travelling to Iceland.

We used Happy Campers and rented a Happy One Auto camper for an 8 day ring road trip. We heard through word of mouth that Happy Campers was great and after doing quite a fair amount of research we decided to go with them.
From the booking process to pick up process from the airport we were not disappointed.
The rental included a table to be used as a GPS and provide us Wifi for the entire trip. This was an essential part of the flexibility of our trip. There are additional add ons that are very affordable or included for free. One of the most unique offerings was the Free Zone area in the rental office where travelers can leave extra supplies for future travelers to use. A great way to reduce waste and we took advantage of this when we started and ended our van journey.
Happy Campers also partners with various local companies to provide a few discounts. I would def recommend stopping at Vok Baths.
The van itself fit our needs and we loved the flexibility it offers. It was comfortable for the 2 of us. I could not imagine traveling around Iceland in a tent due to on the weather.
I would recommend Happy Campers based on the communication prior to the trip, excellent service throughout, Wifi/GPS included and of course the van itself. Would be happy to rent from them again.

Absolutely amazing. Benjamin was the best, we had a lot of flight issues. And i mean a lot. Put us behind 3 days! But Benjamin was extremely communicative and helpful. 10 out of 10 i couldn’t recommend these guys more, the vans were adorable and have everything you could need and more.

Ich bin 15 Tage mit einem Happy 1 über Island getourt und war sehr zufrieden. Mein "Jay-Jay" war sehr verlässlich - auch ein platter Reifen konnte uns nicht aufhalten und das Problem konnte mit Hilfe der Happy Camper Hotline schnell behoben werden. Toll fand ich die ganzen hinzubuchbaren Extras (Converter, Campingstuhl, Gitarre) und das Tablet mit Navi-Assistant, Chatfunktion und road.is, vedur.is. Ich habe mich auch gefreut, dass die Standheizung mich "Warmduscher" nicht eine Nacht im Stich gelassen hat.
Die Betreuung im Office bei Abholung und Rückgabe und der Flughafentransfer haben gut geklappt, obwohl ich bei meiner Ankunft erst kurz vor Ende der Büro-Öffnungszeit dort ankam.
Meine vielen Fragen, die ich vor meiner ersten Islandreise per Mail hatte, wurden umgehend und freundlich beantwortet.
Kurz: Ich war sehr zufrieden und plane schon den nächsten Islandurlaub - natürlich wieder mit einem Happy Camper.

Contraté Happy Camper por las reseñas que tenía y la verdad que no me equivoqué.
Recogida en el aeropuerto, una vez llegué a las oficinas me atendió una chica de Croacia que se llamaba Lili... (No me acuerdo de su nombre completo) y con ella todo fue genial, mi nivel de inglés es bastante malo e hizo todo lo posible por entenderse.
Las furgonetas están bien, tienes una camperizacion simple pero es más que suficiente, en nuestro caso escogimos la Happy Camper 1, yo mido 1,95 y entraba perfectamente.
Cuando vuelva a Islandia sin ninguna duda volveré a alquilar Happy Camper.
Por cierto, en sus oficinas tienen un apartado de camping que está muy bien para hacer la última noche y de ahí ir al aeropuerto.

Wir haben heute unseren Happy 1 EX nach 2 Wochen wieder abgegeben und sind super zufrieden mit Happy Campers. Das Abholen am Flughafen, die Übernahme des Campers, die Kommunikation während der 2 Wochen, die wir unterwegs waren und die Abgabe des Campers funktionierten reibungslos.
Leider hatten wir ein loses Kabel am Kühlschrank, welches wir mit Tape festkleben mussten damit dieser durchgehend lief. Auch die Batterie, die für die Standheizung verbaut ist, war bei uns leider nie auf ,voll geladen‘. Bei der Übernahme hieß es, dass diese nie unter 12 V Anzeigen sollte. Unsere zeigte stetig zwischen 11,9 & 11,7 an. Die Heizung funktionierte allerdings trotzdem, weswegen das kein größeres Problem darstellte.
Zusätzlich würden wir jedem, egal wo man bucht, empfehlen alle Versicherungen abzuschließen. Wir hatten relativ zügig einen Steinschlag an der Windschutzscheibe, welcher verursachte, dass die Scheibe einen Riss bekam. Dank dem ,Happiest Bundle‘ sind wir aber auch dagegen versichert gewesen.
Für all die ,Probleme‘ die wir hatten, kann das Team von Happy Campers aber nichts dafür und wir würden es jedem empfehlen hier einen Camper zu buchen - sie sind super ausgestattet und das Personal ist mehr als freundlich!!

Awesome experience travelling around this beautiful country with the Happy 1 van! Very comfortable disposition of everything inside the van, with enough space for moving around and for storage and far better prepared than other vans we saw in other campings where they had to do things outside the van even when it was pouring.. Thanks for your support from the very beginning and for making this experience unique! We'll surely repeat :)

My husband and I rented a Happy2 for 9 nights at the end of August 2022. Prior to arriving, my many email questions were promptly answered by Jon and Benjamin. Upon arrival in Iceland, the airport pick-up and check-in with Ljiljana was seamless. The van itself was well clean, well equipped, and functioned surprisingly well for all our needs. Overall, we had an amazing experience in Iceland and left as Happy Campers!

We had a great experience with Happy Campers! They were very flexible when we needed to reschedule our booking twice due to the pandemic. They answered all our questions promptly over email. Their shuttle picked us up at the airport: the first one is around 8am and the last leaves their office at 4:30, so that's something to keep in mind when choosing flights. The check-in and check-out processes went smoothly, and they showed us how to use everything in the van. The van itself was great. We rented an automatic, and it was well stocked: mini-fridge, sink with full water tank, propane stove, heating system, tablet with GPS and wi-fi hotspot, very comfy duvets and pillows, and plenty of cooking and eating utensils. We rented a power inverter but didn't need it because the van had multiple ports, including ones connected to the spare battery that we could use even when we weren't driving. The fold-down bed was easy to use and we did both fit, if a little snugly. We were so tired after our days of adventuring that it didn't matter, though. The wi-fi hotspot on the tablet worked great, and it was a reliable GPS. I would definitely recommend Happy Campers to anyone thinking of traveling Iceland in a camper van, which is a super fun experience!

Lovely staff so helpful with tips and advice for our adventure in Iceland. We had no problems whatsoever and Happy Camper van Ex1 did us a great service through the whole ring road in 11 days. Would definitely recommend Happy Campers for their sterling service and hospitality - welcoming us at the airport on our arrival was so nice when everything around you is new and strange. Just got home from my trip to Iceland with my sister. We got the Happy 1 Auto and it was just big enough for us both. I loved our little van! Ran great. Had everything you need for cooking. The tablet was great for navigating and finding campsites. The comforters were comfy and warm. There were a few things that were a little tricky that I let them know about when we got back, but nothing major - just one of the doors was sticky and the cooler didn't stay on the whole time because of a faulty plug, but we were able to get it to kick on whenever we stopped. I will definitely be renting from them next time I am in Iceland!! Thank you!
