Can AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude read my review widget?

Understand why AI bots and LLMs may not see the reviews inside an embedded widget, and how adding your Schema code to the page makes your rating and reviews readable by AI.

Written by Simona

More and more visitors are asking AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Google AI Overviews, and Perplexity about businesses before they buy. A common question we hear is: "If I embed your reviews widget on my page, can AI tools read my reviews?" 🤖

Add your Schema code to the page

Alongside your widget, add the Schema code (structured data) that EmbedSocial generates for your reviews to the same page. Schema code is written specifically for machines to read. AI bots and search engines can parse it directly and pull out your review data.

In short: the widget displays your reviews to people, and the Schema code exposes the same review data to AI tools and search engines. Adding both gives you the best of both worlds.

What AI can read from the Schema code

With the Schema code in place on your page, AI tools and crawlers can read:

  • Your average star rating

  • Your total number of reviews

  • The individual review content included in the structured data

This means that when an AI tool analyzes your page, it can correctly recognize that your business has reviews and reference your rating — instead of reporting that none were found.

How to get and add your Schema code

You can copy your Schema code from inside your widget, under the "Schema" tab, and paste it into the header/body of the page where your widget is embedded. For full step-by-step instructions, see: Does your Reviews system generate Schema code?

Note: access to the Schema code requires an EmbedReviews Pro Plus subscription. The same Schema code also helps your star ratings appear in Google search results.
