Welcome to the AI widget editor, your command center for finalizing your widget's look and behavior. While the AI or template gives you a great foundation, this is where you fine-tune the details, from filtering specific posts to adjusting the layout, to ensure everything matches your brand perfectly.
Here is a breakdown of every section to help you navigate the editor like a pro.
The Left Sidebar: Design & Settings
Once you open your widget, on the left side, you can see a few sections. This area controls the visual look of your widget and the rules for which posts are displayed.
1. Embed
Here you can find the code needed to display the widget on your website. You can choose between:
JavaScript: The standard embed code that updates automatically. Best for most websites.
iFrame: Best for website builders that restrict scripts.
CMS-specific: Shortcodes for platforms like WordPress.
Once you select your code type, click Copy code to copy it to your clipboard, then paste it into your website.
You'll also find two additional options:
Include lazy loading – Loads the widget content only when it comes into view on the page. Recommended if you want to improve your page load speed.
SPA and Ajax loaded – Use this if your website is built as a Single Page Application (SPA) or uses Ajax to load content dynamically (e.g. React, Vue, Angular).

2. AI Design
The AI Design tab lets you describe changes to your widget in plain language and have the AI apply them instantly
What's available in the input bar:
Section where you can input your prompt:
How to use it: Type your request in the message box (e.g., "Make the review card background blue" or "Add more spacing between cards") and hit enter. The more specific you are, the better the result.
Sources – Select which connected source the AI should use when generating or modifying the widget.
Enhance – Before sending the prompt, click this to let the AI rewrite your prompt into a more detailed version. It automatically covers layout, spacing, hover effects, typography, card styles, and more — producing better results on the first try. You can review and edit the enhanced prompt before generating. Upload image – Upload a screenshot of a widget design you like, and the AI will attempt to recreate that style for you.
Brand Theme: When creating an AI widget, the AI can detect your website's brand colors and offer to apply them to the widget. The AI decides where each color fits best — headers, buttons, links, accents — for a subtle, professional result. (Learn more about Brand Theme here).
Retry: If you encounter an "Unable to generate HTML" error, a Retry button will appear directly in the chat, allowing you to resend your prompt with a single click.
Enable notifications – Turn this on to get a browser notification the moment your widget finishes generating. You don't need to keep the tab open or watch the screen. Your browser will ask for permission the first time you enable this. Available on all plans.
Filter content by source name via prompt (new)
If your widget has multiple connected sources (e.g. several Instagram accounts, Google locations, or Facebook pages), you can now ask the AI to filter the widget by a specific source name directly through a prompt. Try something like "Show only posts from @embedsocial", "Hide posts from our New York location", or "Only display reviews from the London store". The AI will apply the filter to your widget without requiring you to open the Filters panel — useful for quickly highlighting a single account, location, or page for a campaign or landing page.
3. Templates
Browse our library of pre-made layouts. If you want to switch your current look entirely, you can pick a new template here.
4. Filters
'Filters' is one of the most powerful sections in the editor. It gives you precise control over which posts appear in your widget.
Content controls
Auto-add new posts – When ON, new posts from your source appear in the widget automatically. When OFF, new posts are disabled by default and must be approved manually in the 'Moderation' tab.
Show posts after a certain date – Set a date so only posts published from that point onwards are displayed. Useful for showing only recent content.
Filter by keyword
Type a word to include or exclude specific posts. Use a comma (,) to filter by more keywords, a plus (+) to showcase posts that contain that specific keyword, for example, '+embedsocial', and a minus (–) to exclude posts containing that word. Press Enter to apply.
Manual tags
Filter posts based on tags you have manually assigned to the posts. If you haven't added any tags yet, you can add them here https://embedsocial.com/admin/social_listening by selecting the posts and assigning the desired tag
AI filtering (powered by AI)
Filter by AI tags – Use EmbedSocial's smart tagging system to automatically filter posts by detected content categories. (Learn more about AI Tagging here).
Post type
Choose which content formats to display: All, Image & Video, Video only, or Text only.
Additional filter options (available depending on your source type)
Minimum rating – For review widgets, set the lowest star rating to display (e.g. 4 stars and up).
Reviews with text first – Prioritizes reviews that include written comments over star-only ratings.
Order by date
Choose Descending (newest first) or Ascending (oldest first).
5. Settings
The Settings panel controls the global behavior of your widget — visibility, language, and how many posts are loaded.
Visibility
Show widget on website – Master toggle for your widget. Turn this OFF to hide the widget from your website without deleting it or changing any of its configuration.
Show widget on mobile – Control whether the widget is visible on mobile devices.
Auto-add new posts – When ON, new posts from your source appear in the widget automatically. When OFF, new posts must be approved manually in the Moderation tab.
Language
Widget language – Set the language for any text displayed by the widget interface (e.g. "Read more", "Load more"). Defaults to English.
AI caption translator – When enabled, automatically translates post captions into the selected widget language using AI. Useful if your sources post in a different language than your page audience.
Analytics
Feed analytics – When enabled, tracks and counts clicks on media inside the widget. Turn this on if you want to measure how visitors interact with your widget.
Post display limits
Posts per page – Sets how many posts load at once on desktop
Posts (Mobile) – Sets how many posts load on mobile devices separately
The Top Navigation: Content Management
The tabs across the top of the editor each open a dedicated area for managing the specific data and interactions within the widget.
1. Editor
Your main workspace. This is where you see a live preview of your widget and access all the design and filter tools in the left sidebar.
2. Links
Turn your widget into a shopping experience by connecting posts to products or actions.
CTA (Call to Action) – Add a button to your posts that directs visitors to a URL of your choice (e.g. "Shop now", "Learn more").
Tag products – Link individual posts directly to specific products on your website, so visitors can shop straight from the widget.
Product catalog (admin only) (new) – Admin users can now browse the imported product catalog directly inside the AI editor. The catalog opens in a grid view showing product images and names, and a dropdown lists all available products for quick selection when tagging posts. This makes it much faster to attach the right product to a post without leaving the editor. (Learn how to import your product catalog here).
3. Moderation
Review and control which posts are visible on your website.
Enable/Disable posts – Hide individual posts from your widget without deleting them. Useful for removing irrelevant or off-brand content while keeping it in the system.
Approve new posts – If "Auto-add new posts" is turned off in Settings, new posts land here first and must be approved before they go live.
4. Order
Manually control the sequence of posts in your widget.
Pin – Pin your best posts or reviews to the top so they always appear first.
5. Sources
Manage where your widget pulls content from.
View sources – See which Instagram accounts, Google locations, hashtags, or other sources are currently connected to this widget.
Add/Remove sources – Connect new sources or disconnect existing ones without creating a new widget.
6. Schema (for reviews ) Boost your SEO.
Copy the Schema code and paste it on your website to display star ratings in Google Search results.
