Why am I being asked to enter a VAT ID?

To avoid being charged VAT tax.

We collect VAT on all accounts in the European Union that don't have an EU VAT number on file with us. All VAT numbers are validated with our payment processor Recurly by using the VAT Information Exchange System (VIES) at https://commission.europa.eu/index_en

If your billing address is not in the EU, no tax will be added to your invoices.

To avoid being charged VAT tax, add a valid VAT number to your account with an EU billing address. To do so you will need to:

  1. Click on the 'Profile Icon' in the bottom left corner

  2. Click 'My Profile'

  3. Click 'Edit'

  4. Enter your VAT number under VAT number (EU only), and click 'Save Changes'
