Why am I being asked to enter a VAT ID?

To avoid being charged VAT tax.

We collect VAT on all accounts in the European Union that doesn't have an EU VAT number on file with us. All VAT numbers are validated with our payment processor Recurly by using the VAT Information Exchange System (VIES) at http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/vieshome.do?selectedLanguage=en

If your billing address is not in the EU, no tax will be added to your invoices.

To avoid being charged VAT tax, add a valid VAT number to your account with an EU billing address.

  1. Click on the Profile Icon in the bottom left corner

  2. Click My Profile

  3. Click Edit

  4. Enter your VAT number under VAT number (EU only), and click Save Changes
