At EmbedSocial, we offer two powerful ways to create widgets: our classic Universal Widgets and our new AI Widgets. While both display your reviews and social posts beautifully, they use different editors to customize the design.
This guide explains the difference and how to edit your widget depending on which version you are using.
How do I know which widget I am using?
The easiest way to tell the difference is by looking at the Left Sidebar inside the widget editor.
Universal Widget: You will see multiple sections and tabs named like "Layout", "Settings", "Header" etc.
AI Widget: You will see a tab named "✨ AI Design". There are other sections as well which are the same as in the universal widget, but the "AI design" section is not included there. So if you have this section, you have an AI widget.
1. The Universal Widget
These are our classic widgets created by selecting a standard template or from scratch. They rely on manual settings where you click buttons and sliders to adjust the look.
How to edit the design: If you want to change the layout, card style, or behavior, you must use the manual settings in the sidebar sections: General, Templates, Layout, Header, Card, Products, Filters and CSS section.

2. The AI Widget
These are our next-generation widgets generated by Artificial Intelligence. Instead of searching for specific buttons or sliders, you simply talk to the editor.
How to edit the design: You will not find the traditional "Layout" or "Settings" tabs here. Instead, you make changes by writing prompts:
Go to the "✨ AI Design" Tab: Click on this tab in the left sidebar.
Type Your Change: In the text box, describe exactly what you want to change.
Example: "Change the background color to dark blue."
Example: "Make the corners of the cards more rounded."
Click Generate: The AI will apply your instructions instantly.
Save the changes.
What settings are the same?
Regardless of which widget type you use, the tools for managing your content remain the same. You can use the following tabs on both versions:
Filters: To control which posts appear (by date, keyword, or tag).
Moderation: To manually hide or show specific posts.
Sources: To add or remove connected social accounts.
Embed: To get the code for your website.
