Where review replies are available
You can show Google review replies in two places, depending on which widget editor you are using.
Universal widget editor. Available on the Modern card and in the Lightbox. Enabled with a toggle in Settings.
AI widget editor. Enabled with a prompt. The AI editor can apply replies to any card layout you build, so you can match the design to the rest of your widget.
Show review replies in the Universal widget editor
Use this method when your widget is built in the Universal editor with the Modern card or Lightbox layout.
Step 1: Open your widget. Go to the Widgets section in your EmbedSocial account and open the widget where you want to display review replies.
Step 2: Open the Settings tab and go to Card. In the widget editor, navigate to the Settings page in the left sidebar, and click on the Card section.
Step 3: Enable "Show review replies." Find the Show review replies toggle and turn it ON. Any Google reviews that have a business reply will display that reply directly on the card or in the lightbox view.
Note: It might take some time before all the replies are shown.
Step 4: Choose a reply card style under Appearance. Open the Appearance section and find the Reply review card type radio group. Choose the style that fits your widget:
Default. Keeps the original reply layout, with the reply shown in full directly under the review.
Collapsed. Shows a compact reply preview that visitors can expand. This style keeps cards shorter and is useful when you have many long replies.
Step 5: Save your widget. Click Save to apply the changes. Your widget will now show review replies on your website.
Show review replies in the AI widget editor
In the AI widget editor, you control review replies through prompts. The editor reads your prompt and applies the change to whatever layout you have built, so you can use replies on any card style you want, not only the Modern card or Lightbox.
Step 1: Open your widget in the AI editor. Go to the Widgets section, open the widget you want to update, and open the AI editor.
Step 2: Type a prompt that describes the change. Tell the AI editor what you want it to do with the replies. The editor will update your widget based on the prompt.
Step 3: Refine the design with follow up prompts. If you want the replies styled differently, prompt again. You can ask the AI editor to change the reply position, the typography, the background, or the visibility behaviour.
Step 4: Save and embed. Once the design looks right, save the widget and copy the embed code into your website.
Prompt examples for the AI editor
Use these as a starting point. The AI editor responds to natural language, so you can adapt them to your widget.
Show review replies under each review.
Add the business reply below the review text and indent it slightly.
Show review replies inside the lightbox only, not on the card.
Make the review reply collapsed by default with a "Show reply" link to expand it.
Style the review reply with a light grey background and a small "Owner reply" label above it.
Hide review replies in this widget.
Choosing between Default and Collapsed in the Universal editor
Both styles show the same content, but they use space differently.
Use Default when replies are short, when you want the response visible at a glance, or when you have only a few reviews with replies.
Use Collapsed when replies are long, when you have many reviews with replies, or when keeping the widget compact matters more than showing every reply in full.
You can switch between styles at any time without losing your other widget settings.
Frequently asked questions
Does this work with reviews from other platforms? Currently, review replies are available for Google reviews only. Support for other platforms may be added in the future.
What is the difference between the Default and Collapsed reply styles? Default shows the full reply under each review. Collapsed shows a compact preview that visitors can expand. Both are controlled from the Reply review card type radio group under Appearance in the Universal editor.
Which card types support replies in the Universal editor? Review replies are supported on the Modern card and in the Lightbox view within the Universal widget editor.
Do I need to use specific layouts in the AI editor? No. The AI editor can apply review replies to any layout you build through prompts. You decide the design.
Are review replies translated automatically? Translation support for review replies is coming soon and will work the same way as caption translations.
