Auto-tag social media posts as they are collected
You pick the sources to watch and the tags to apply. Every new post collected from those sources is tagged without anyone touching it, so incoming content is organized the moment it is collected.

What does it do?
Auto tagging is an automation type that adds tags to posts automatically as they come in. You create it once in your account: name it, set the automation type to "Auto tagging" and the trigger to "New post is collected", select the sources it should watch, and type the tags to apply. It applies the exact tags you type. Tick "Include existing posts" to also tag posts already collected from those sources. Auto tagging is available on the Premium plan, and it runs inside EmbedSocial, so there is no AI tool to open and no prompt to run.
Useful for
- Running a campaign or tracking a theme across several hashtags and accounts, which is what the automation is built for.
- Grouping content by market or region: point the automation at your US-facing sources and tag everything "us-videos".
- Separating content by platform or format, by tagging your video sources differently from your photo sources.
- Collecting product or collection content, by tagging posts from a product hashtag or a product-specific account.
- Keeping creator and ambassador posts together under one tag.
- Applying tags to a back catalogue: tick "Include existing posts" and the tags reach posts already collected from those sources, not only what arrives next.
How to set up
- 1
Create your EmbedSocial account
Auto tagging is available on the Premium plan. Sign up for an EmbedSocial trial so you can connect your sources and build automations.
Start free trial - 2
Connect the sources you want to watch
Add the social media accounts, hashtags, and channels that collect the posts you want tagged.
- 3
Create a new automation
Open Automations, create a new automation, and give it a name you will recognize later, for example "Videos in US".
- 4
Choose "Auto tagging" as the automation type
Pick the automation type, then choose the activity that triggers it. "New post is collected" runs the automation every time a new post arrives from one of your sources.
- 5
Select your sources and type your tags
Choose one or more sources for the automation to watch, then type the tags you want added to every new post from them.
- 6
Decide whether to include existing posts
Include existing posts to apply the same tags to the media already in your library. Leave it off to tag only what arrives from now on.
- 7
Set the automation live
Save the automation and set it live. Every new post those sources collect is tagged from that moment.
Note: Depending on the connectors you are using, you may be prompted to authenticate your platform connections by logging into your accounts.
Real-world use case
Say your US market page needs its own video widget. You have a brand Instagram account and a YouTube Shorts channel, and both keep collecting new posts. Without an automation, someone opens the Posts page every week, finds the new videos, and tags them by hand before they can show up in the widget.
With auto tagging you build it once. Name the automation "Videos in US", set the automation type to "Auto tagging", and trigger it on "New post is collected". Select your brand Instagram source and your Shorts channel, then type "us-videos" as the tag. Tick "Include existing posts" so the videos already collected are tagged too, and click "Set live". Tagged posts are easier to moderate and filter into the right widget.
