How to embed an Instagram post on your website

You need two things: the post link and a place on your site that accepts HTML. Here is the fastest way to embed Instagram posts with our tool. The embed shows the photo or carousel, the caption, the like count and a View profile button, so visitors can tap through and follow you on Instagram.

  1. Copy the post link

    Open the post on Instagram. Tap the share icon, then tap Copy link. On desktop, you can copy the address from your browser bar.

  2. Paste it into the generator

    Paste the link in the box above and click Get embed code. You see a live preview right away. Set the max width and choose whether to show the caption.

  3. Copy the code and paste it on your site

How to embed Instagram reels on your website

Reels use the same embed code as posts. The steps are almost identical.

  1. Copy the reel link

    Open the reel, tap the share icon and choose Copy link. The link looks like instagram.com/reel/...

  2. Generate the code

    Paste the link above and click Get embed code. The preview shows the reel exactly as visitors will see it.

  3. Paste and publish

    Copy the code and paste it into your page. The reel plays inside the embed, with a link back to Instagram.

A note on video sizing: reels are vertical (9:16), so they take up more height than a square post. Instagram sets the height for you. You control the width, from 326 px to 658 px. How to embed your full Instagram feed on your website

A single embed shows one post. That is great for a blog article or a product launch. But it has limits. It never changes. When you post something new, you need to generate new code and edit your page again. Every post also loads its own frame, so ten embeds means ten frames on one page.

Where to paste your Instagram embed code

The code works on any site that lets you add custom HTML. Pick your platform below. Each guide takes about a minute, and you can use the same steps later for an EmbedSocial feed widget.

  1. Open your page or post

    Edit it in the block editor.

  2. Add a Custom HTML block

Is the Instagram embed code generator free?
Yes. The generator is free to use, with no sign-up and no account needed. It runs on Meta's official Instagram oEmbed API.
Do I need to log in to Instagram?
No. You don't need an Instagram account, a Facebook account or an access token. Just paste a public post or reel link. We never ask for your password and never touch your account. The tool only reads what Instagram already shows publicly.
Why won't my Instagram post embed?
Instagram only allows embeds of posts from public accounts. A post will not embed if the account is private, inactive or age-restricted, if the post was deleted, or if the owner turned off embeds. Stories and profile links can't be embedded either. Check that the link opens in a private browser window, then try again.
Can I embed a post from a private Instagram account?
No. Instagram blocks embeds from private accounts to protect the owner's privacy. The account has to be public for the embed to work. If it is your own account, switch it to public in Instagram settings, generate the code, and keep it public for as long as the embed is on your site.
Does embedding an Instagram post slow down my site?
A little. Each embed loads Instagram's embed.js script and a frame with the post. To keep your page fast, load the script only once per page and avoid stacking many single embeds. If you want many posts, one Instagram feed widget is lighter than ten separate embeds.
Can I customize how the Instagram embed looks?
Only a little. You can set the max width and show or hide the caption. Instagram controls the rest of the design. For full control over layout, colors and fonts, use an Instagram widget instead.
