Unveiling the Latest Threads App Updates for 2025

How to get the latest Threads features in 2026?

Threads rolls out features unevenly. These practices help you stay ahead of the curve.

On Threads, timing is a lever your brand uses. It’s not optional.

New Threads features: July 2026

Threads adds co-hosts and sharing tools to live chats

The head of Threads, Connor Hayes, just announced that Threads is expanding its live chat feature with co-host support and new ways to spread discussions beyond the chat itself. Community champions can now create and host chats inside communities, while each live chat can include up to three co-hosts to help manage the conversation.

threads live chats co-hosts

Threads is also making chats easier to promote by letting participants share messages from a live chat directly to their feed as a chat link. On top of that, hosts can now long-press to delete messages faster, while pinned messages and live translation are already in the works.

Meta adds new Story formats and editing tools for its AI glasses

Meta is rolling out new Spin View and Multi-Cam Story formats for Ray-Ban Meta and Meta glasses, giving users more ways to turn first-person footage into something more dynamic.

meta ai glasses story formats

The update also adds new Story editing tools inside Instagram, including reframing, cleaner audio, and smoother speed controls.

The goal is obvious: make glasses content easier to polish and easier to share without leaving Instagram. Instead of raw POV clips feeling limited, Meta is giving creators more ways to build Stories that look intentional and more watchable.

Meta launches Pocket, a new app for AI-generated ‘gizmos’

Meta has launched Pocket, a new standalone app built around what it calls ‘gizmos’, interactive, playable AI-generated experiences that users can create, share, and discover with friends. In Meta’s own description, gizmos can respond to touch, tilt, sound, camera input, and text prompts, turning the app into a feed of small AI-made interactive experiences.

meta pocket gizmos app

The bigger point is that Meta is pushing further into AI-native social products, not just AI features inside its existing apps. Pocket looks like another attempt to make creation, remixing, and discovery feel more playful, while giving Meta a new space to experiment with AI-generated content as a social format.

Threads tests private likes for more discreet engagement

Threads is testing a new Private Likes option that lets users hide their likes from everyone except themselves and the post author. When the setting is turned off, likes remain visible to anyone who can see the post, giving users a simple switch between public and more private engagement.

threads private likes option

It is a notable shift for a platform built around visible interaction signals. By making likes more discreet, Threads is giving users a little more control over how openly they engage, especially on posts they might not want tied to their public activity.

Meta adds AI chat insights for parents of teens

Meta is introducing AI chat insights that give parents a clearer view of what their teen is asking Meta AI about across Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger. The feature is designed to add another layer of parental visibility around AI use, without turning those conversations into full transcript monitoring.

New Threads features: June 2026

Meta plans to shift most content review to AI by year-end

Meta is accelerating its move toward AI-based moderation, with reports saying the company wants large language models to handle the vast majority of content and ad review decisions by the end of 2026.

The shift is massive. Meta has reportedly already moved about half of these review tasks to AI, and now wants that number to climb much higher, cutting back human involvement across Facebook, Instagram, and its other apps.

Meta pushes AI-generated multimedia ads with new best-practice guidance

Meta is giving advertisers fresh guidance on how to get more out of its AI-powered multimedia ads, which let brands upload multiple images and videos into one ad so the system can automatically assemble and deliver the best version for each placement and audience.

The pitch is simple: give Meta more creative inputs, and let its AI sort out the combinations, formats, and delivery. It is another step in Meta’s broader push to make ad creation more automated, more scalable, and more dependent on its own optimization systems.

Meta expands AI ad testing tools and merges creator marketing surfaces

Meta has announced new AI-powered ad experimentation tools inside Ads Manager, giving brands more ways to generate, test, and refine creative based on what is already performing for their business.

meta ai ad features and creator marketing hub

At the same time, it is merging Creator Marketplace and Partnership Ads Hub into a new Meta Creator Marketing Hub, making it easier for brands to move from finding creators to launching affiliate and partnership campaigns in one place.

The broader play is obvious: Meta wants ad creation, testing, and creator collaboration to sit inside one tighter system powered by its AI tools. It is also adding stronger text generation, more translation options, and Facebook creators to the marketplace, as it pushes harder to make its own ad stack the default place for both performance marketing and creator-led campaigns.

Meta expands AI search and editing tools on Facebook

Meta is adding more AI features to Facebook, including an upgraded AI search mode that pulls in public commentary from places like Groups and Reels to give users more conversational, experience-based answers instead of a standard list of results.

facebook ai search update

It is another clear sign that Meta wants Facebook’s user discussions to become a bigger part of how people discover information inside its apps.

At the same time, Meta is rolling out more AI-powered creative tools, including new photo and video editing effects, collage-style transitions, and image presets that can digitally change clothing in pictures.

The broader push is obvious: Meta keeps weaving AI deeper into both discovery and content creation on Facebook, even as it faces growing questions about how useful people actually find these features.

Threads is working on a ‘Buddy list’ for more private sharing

Threads is testing a new Buddy list feature that would let users share posts with a smaller selected group instead of everyone. Only people added to that list would be able to see posts shared through it.

threads buddy list feature

It is a clear move toward more private, Close Friends-style posting inside Threads, which already has its own DM system and has been steadily adding more private messaging features over time.

Meta launches Forum as a standalone app for Facebook Groups

Meta has quietly launched Forum, a new standalone app built around Facebook Groups and positioned as a deeper discussion space. Users sign in with Facebook, pull in their existing groups, and can keep posting into those communities through a more Reddit-like experience focused on conversations and discovery.

meta forum standalone app for facebook groups

The bigger play is the new AI layer. Forum includes an Ask tab that pulls answers from group discussions across Facebook, plus AI tools to help group admins manage conversations and moderation. It is another clear sign that Meta wants to turn its huge archive of community posts into a more useful discovery engine.

Meta has a brand new AI Business Agent for brands and businesses

Meta has announced wider access to its AI-powered Business Agent tools, which can now help brands answer customer questions, recommend products, book appointments, qualify leads, and even support sales across WhatsApp and Messenger, with Instagram joining the rollout as well.

meta ai business agent tool

The bigger shift is that these AI agents will move into paid subscription plans in the coming months, while Meta also adds new WhatsApp discovery options and a more advanced Business Agent Platform for deeper integrations with tools like Shopify and Zendesk.

In short, Meta is pushing harder to make AI messaging a core business product, not just a support add-on.

Meta tests ‘Series’ for episodic Reels on Instagram and Facebook

Meta is testing a new ‘Series’ feature for Reels that lets creators bundle related videos into one connected sequence on Instagram and Facebook, with a dedicated hub on their profile where viewers can watch episodes in order and pick up where they left off.

meta series for reels on instagram

The feature is aimed at more structured content like tutorials, challenges, and multi-part storytelling, instead of the usual one-off scroll-and-forget Reels.

The bigger idea is obvious enough: Meta wants to make short-form video a bit stickier by encouraging repeat viewing and episodic habits.

Meta adds a visual content planner and easier bulk Reels uploads for creators

Meta has launched two new publishing tools aimed at helping creators post more consistently. The first is a more visual Content Planner in Creator Studio on the web, which gives users a clearer overview of scheduled posts, gaps in their calendar, and performance insights in one place.

meta content planner for creator studio

Meta is also improving bulk Reels uploads, making it easier to add descriptions, review clips, and spot potential copyright issues inside a simpler upload flow.

meta reels bulk upload

The bigger play is obvious: Meta wants to make original posting easier and more efficient, especially as it keeps pushing creators away from recycled content and toward more consistent publishing.

Meta launches Forum as a separate app for Facebook group discussions

Meta has launched Forum, a standalone app that pulls together a user’s Facebook groups into one Reddit-style discussion feed. Users sign in with Facebook, browse group conversations in one place, and discover related communities through a more discussion-first interface.

meta forum standalone app

The bigger difference is the new ‘Ask’ focus. Forum pushes users to ask direct questions and get answers pulled from group discussions, with Meta’s AI also able to summarize relevant posts and surface useful threads.

So yes, this is partly a new groups app. But it also looks like Meta is building a better question-and-answer engine for its AI tools by turning Facebook groups into a more searchable source of human responses.

Threads may soon let users pin private chats

Threads appears to be testing a new DM feature that would let users pin up to three private conversations at the top of their inbox.

threads pinning chats feature

That would be a fairly logical next step for Threads messaging, which Meta has been steadily expanding with web DMs, message requests, and more controls.

Threads may be testing a new swipe-up gesture to go back

Threads appears to be testing a new swipe-up gesture that lets users return to the previous screen more quickly.

threads swipe-up gesture

The feature adds a simple ‘swipe up to go back’ prompt above the reply bar, which suggests Meta is tweaking navigation to make the app feel a bit smoother.

Threads got Apple’s ‘Liquid Glass’ look on iOS

Threads just got a glass-like iOS interface. The update appears to bring in more translucent UI elements around the profile screen, matching the broader ‘Liquid Glass’ design language Apple introduced with iOS 26.

threads liquid glass update

The direction fits: iOS apps are gradually adapting their interfaces to Apple’s newer glass-style design system.

New Threads features: May 2026

Threads advertisers get advanced ad placement controls

Meta is expanding advanced ad placement controls to Threads, giving advertisers access to third-party content block lists through DoubleVerify, IAS, Scope3, and Zefr.

That means brands will have more precision in keeping their ads away from content they would rather avoid, while Meta also adds Channel Factory and Protected by Mediaocean to its broader brand safety partner lineup.

Small update on paper, useful one in practice: it gives advertisers more control over where their Threads ads appear without forcing them to do the filtering by hand.

Threads is getting Meta’s AI chatbot

Meta’s latest artificial intelligence model (Muse Spark) is getting distributed across all Meta platforms, including Threads, where users can call on Meta AI in-stream.

threads meta ai chatbot update

As you can see, to summon Muse Spark, users have to tag “@meta.ai” when posting or replying on Threads. Then, they just have to follow up with their questions.

Perhaps not the biggest of news, but Threads now has a refined identity in the form of a new logo and wordmark.

threads updated logo and wordmark

The new wordmark and logo use italics as it’s trying to reflect the forward-leaning nature of the app, i.e., looking ahead instead of behind.

That said, the main reason for this update is to distinguish Threads as a standalone app, instead of as an offspring of Instagram, which it initially was.

Threads is getting a paid ad-free experience

Most Meta platforms are, in fact. As for Threads, its ad-free tier is currently priced at £18.33 per month (4 accounts) or £23.33 per month (5 accounts).

threads ad-free tier

Other than that, you’re getting nothing more. You just won’t be seeing pesky ads.

Meta Creators Fast Track program is expanding

This is an important program organized by Meta that allows creators to earn $300 or more over three months by posting Facebook Reels. There are no performance criteria.

meta creators fast track program

This program offers instant access to content monetization, so creators can generate money in the long term from their content. Plus, they get increased reach.

Threads makes posting easier and more customizable

There are two new tools that were just launched by the Threads team: automated separation of longer text into several text block posts and various animated stickers for them.

This feature is applied whenever you post text longer than 500 characters. Plus, you’ll get an indicator as to the character length of your post and how it’s divided.

Note: This is separate from the text attachment feature that was implemented a while back, which allows users to attach longer text within their threads. This works in-stream instead, so users won’t have to click through to read more.

As for the various text animated stickers, users can simply tap ‘Add sticker’ from the pop-up menu and add moving visuals such as animated letters:

threads animated stickers update

You can now add music to Threads posts along with an album preview

Users can now attach songs to their Threads posts, and users only have to tap the Play button to listen to them directly in the app:

threads music preview update in posts

When tapping the button, a record pops out from the album cover and starts spinning, thus indicating the song is being played and adding a bit of interactive fun.

After initially launching the feature to summarize trending posts, Threads is now expanding access to this feature in countries such as Brazil, Vietnam, and Taiwan.

threads trending topics summaries update

The feature uses AI to generate summaries of all main topics that the user is interested in, which helps them catch up and join in the conversation faster.

New Threads features: April 2026

Threads is rebranding and improving its ‘Markup’ feature

Now this feature will be called “Highlight” and will allow users to select and highlight any word or phrase with a different emoji or reaction.

threads highlight features

Remember: these reactions are public and everyone can see them and react to them, even if your profile is set to private.

If you share a link on Threads, you’ll see it styled in a certain way depending on the content you’re sharing. Soon, there’ll be different link styles to choose from:

threads link styles feature

To find one you like best, just tap the ‘Tap for styles’ button in the top-left corner of the link preview window.

Auto-sharing Threads posts to Instagram Stories

This is a new feature that has just been launched quietly on Threads. It improves the cross-platform sharing across Meta’s apps:

threads cross-platform sharing to instagram stories

Threads users can turn it on under the ‘Audience’ settings of their respective Threads post.

Meta launches Instants: a separate app for temporary photos

Instagram has been trying to engage younger audiences for a while now, and their latest experiment is called “Instants”. It’s a standalone app that previously appeared as a feature within Instagram called “Shots”.

Well, users can finally download it from their respective app stores. Here’s the Android version, for instance:

meta instants app

As stated in the description, this is an app for sharing disappearing photos with your friends. The process is streamlined, and there’s no editing workflow. If it sounds similar to Snapchat, that’s because it is.

Threads users can now share their view counts

This is a new globally rolled out feature available for accounts that have had over 10,000 views in the past month:

threads public view count update

As you can see, the new view count is added just below the user’s Threads bio.

Threads adds indented replies and works on web messages

Threads is rolling out indented replies to make conversations easier to follow, similar to how it’s done on platforms like Reddit. Check it out:

threads indented replies to posts

Moreover, Threads is also working on a cleaner desktop layout that brings the web version closer to the mobile app. The new web UI will also include messages, which are expected to start appearing on desktop over the coming weeks:

threads web ui update direct messages

Indented replies should make reply chains feel more like actual threads instead of a flat wall of comments, and the web refresh looks like another step toward making Threads more usable for people who actually work from a laptop.

Meta streamlines ad setup for businesses

Meta is introducing a new AI-powered Meta Pixel setup that can automatically add extra page and product details, such as product names, availability, and business information, to the data advertisers share with Meta. At the same time, it is rolling out a one-click Conversions API setup designed to remove the usual technical hassle.

The point here is pretty obvious: Meta wants smaller businesses to get better ad performance without needing a developer on speed dial every time they update a site or product page. More automation, less setup pain, same old pitch of better results.

Meta expands the Threads API with richer publishing and moderation tools

Meta has announced a major batch of Threads API updates that will let third-party tools support more content formats, deeper discovery, and better moderation workflows. The new additions include ghost posts, cross-sharing to Instagram Stories, text attachments, GIFs, spoiler tags, reply approvals, and real-time publish or delete webhooks.

In short, Threads is becoming a lot more usable inside external social media tools. That matters because if Meta wants brands and publishers to take Threads seriously, it has to make scheduling, discovery, and community management far less manual.

Meta launches Muse Spark to power a smarter Meta AI

Meta has officially introduced Muse Spark, the first model in its new Muse series from Meta Superintelligence Labs. The company says it already powers the Meta AI app and website, with rollouts planned for WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, and AI glasses in the coming weeks, plus a private API preview for selected partners.

meta muse spark llm model

This is the bigger angle: Meta is not framing Muse Spark as just another model launch, but as the core engine behind a more capable Meta AI that can reason better, handle multimodal tasks, use shopping and local context, and eventually surface richer answers tied to content across Meta’s apps.

Meta looks to grow Threads in Japan

Meta is making a more deliberate push to grow Threads in Japan, which remains one of X’s strongest markets. According to Social Media Today, Meta has launched a Japan-specific Threads profile that will share local updates, tips and broader Meta news for Japanese users.

Here’s their new Meta Japan Threads profile: https://www.threads.com/@metajapan.

This looks like a strategic market move more than a simple account launch. Japan is one of the few places where X still holds serious cultural weight, so Meta clearly wants Threads to become a bigger player there too.

Threads may add a new ‘Live Chat’ feature

Threads is working on a new ‘Live Chat’ feature, which points to a more real-time, group-conversation layer inside the app.

That would be a notable shift for Threads, which has so far leaned more toward asynchronous posting and replies. If Meta pushes further into live discussion, Threads starts looking a little less like a Twitter clone and a little more like its own thing.

Meta is reportedly testing a new ‘Featured Profiles’ feature for Meta Verified subscribers, which would highlight selected profiles in an in-feed section.

meta verified featured profile

If that is the direction, then Meta Verified keeps inching further away from simple verification and further into paid visibility perks. Blue check, but with a bit more shelf space attached.

Threads adds new reply filters on iOS

Threads has rolled out two new reply filters on iOS, giving users more control over how they sort and manage conversations.

threads reply filters update

As shown in this Threads update, users can now switch between Top and Recent replies, as well as All and Following. Nothing flashy, but it should make busy threads a lot less messy.

New Threads features: March 2026

Meta rolls out AI support assistant on Facebook and Instagram

Meta is expanding its AI-powered support assistant across Facebook and Instagram, giving users a new way to handle common account issues directly inside the apps and Help Center.

The assistant is designed to help with things like resetting passwords, updating profile and privacy settings, checking why content was removed, and even reporting scams or impersonation accounts. As Meta explains in its latest support and safety update, the tool is available 24/7 and can respond in just a few seconds, cutting the usual Help Center maze down to something more useful.

The bigger picture is Meta’s wider AI push across support and safety. The company says its newer enforcement systems are already catching more scams, impersonation attempts, and serious policy violations with fewer mistakes, and plans to expand that approach across its apps over the next few years.

Meta unveils new AI shopping tools, creator ad features and smarter Reels campaigns

Meta has announced a fresh wave of updates for advertisers across Instagram and Facebook, with a strong focus on AI-powered discovery, creator partnerships, and easier paths from product discovery to checkout.

Here are the biggest highlights from part one of the update and part two of the rollout:

This is a fairly chunky update, but the direction is obvious enough: Meta wants discovery, creator content, and checkout to sit closer together, with AI doing more of the heavy lifting in between.

Threads is testing a new ‘Shared content’ section in DMs

Threads appears to be working on a new ‘Shared content’ section inside direct messages, giving users a cleaner way to see what has already been sent in a chat.

As seen in this Threads preview, the feature would live inside the conversation options and could make it easier to revisit links, posts, or media without digging through the whole thread.

threads shared content update

Threads now shows recent profile views for larger accounts

Threads is starting to show the number of recent views users have received directly on their profile, adding a new public signal of account reach. As noted in this Threads update, the metric only appears once an account passes 10,000 views over the last 30 days, though users can switch it off in settings.

threads profile views counter

The logic is fairly clear: profile views work as a social proof cue, giving visitors a quick snapshot of how much reach an account is getting. And, naturally, if people see real traction, more of them may feel tempted to post more actively on Threads.

Threads now remembers where you left off

Threads appears to be adding a simple but useful resume feature that lets users jump back into the app where they last stopped scrolling.

As shown in this Threads preview, a new ‘Pick up where you left off’ prompt brings users straight back to their previous place in the feed instead of making them start from scratch.

threads resume scrolling feature

Meta Business Suite may now support Reel collaborators

Meta Business Suite appears to be catching up with Instagram’s collab features, as users may soon be able to invite collaborators to Reels directly from the app.

In this leaked Meta Business Suite preview, the feature adds an ‘Invite collaborators’ option during Reel publishing, which would make shared posting workflows a lot easier for brands and partners.

meta reel collaboration feature

Meta announces the Creator Fast Track monetization program

Meta launched Facebook’s new Creator Fast Track program to help established creators grow faster and start earning sooner. It offers boosted reach for eligible Reels and months of guaranteed pay.

Creators with at least 100,000 followers on Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube can earn $1,000 per month, while those with over 1 million followers can earn $3,000 per month. They also get immediate access to Facebook Content Monetization.

Meta says Facebook paid creators nearly $3 billion in 2025, up 35% year over year. It also introduced new monetization metrics like Qualified Views, Earnings Rate, and Non-Qualified Views to help creators understand and improve earnings.

Threads streamlines the post creation flow

We’re getting minor Threads updates regularly, and they all compound over time to create the best X alternative out there (if it’s not that already).

This last update adds various topics and communities below the post composer, so you just tap on one to create a post you care about. Minor update with a big flair:

threads post composer update

Meta is pushing its Manus AI assistant to more users

Now, Instagram users are getting the following prompt:

instagram manus ai update

As you can see, Manus is promising to help users grow their audience by helping them create engaging content.

Threads users have more settings options to customize their experience

One of the latest updates of the Meta Account Centre app brings over the Threads management tools. Plus, there are several new settings inside Threads:

threads settings menu update

These are found under “More settings”, and allow you to change how you spend your time on the app and the language and media you use.

Meta adds scam protections to its app suite

Cooperating with various law enforcement agencies across the world, Meta has developed various scam protections for Facebook, WhatsApp, and Messenger.

Meta worked with the Royal Thai Police, the FBI, the DOJ Scam Center Strike Force, and other global partners to disrupt scam networks in Southeast Asia. The operation led to over 150,000 scam-linked Meta accounts being removed and 21 arrests in Thailand.

The takeaway is that modern scams are large, coordinated, and international, so stopping them takes joint action. Meta also launched new scam-warning tools on Facebook, WhatsApp, and Messenger to help users spot suspicious activity faster.

AI shopping chatbot coming to Meta platforms

Meta is banking hard on its AI tech to support its users, with the latest feature being a commercial AI chatbot that will help users do product/service research within its AI chat interface.

The idea is for users to quickly find the products they need at the best prices via a simple carousel interface of recommended products.

The captions under the images will, naturally, include all the relevant data about the product, brand, and price.

New Threads community for social media managers

Social media managers will now have a much easier time on Threads, as the platform has released a separate community just for them:

social media managers threads community

As such, they can now easily share news, findings, discussions, and find professionals for collaborations

Meta showcases the “Vibes” app

Meta is making advances on its standalone “Vibes” app, which will showcase feeds generated by AI. Why? Well, obviously, there’s interest in it. Otherwise, Meta wouldn’t spend resources on a standalone app:

meta vibes app announcement

Meta AI chatbot for support has launched

Not like you can get in touch with real human representatives anyway, right? So, they might as well create a better (AI-enhanced) chatbot:

meta ai chatbot example

To access it, users will have to navigate to the “Settings” menu and scroll down to the “More info and support” section. Inside, they just have to tap on “Meta AI support assistant” and ask their questions.

Podcasters have been getting A LOT of love on Threads lately, with the latest change being a rich link preview of their podcast video clips:

threads podcast rich previews

By showcasing short clips, podcasters can more easily lead their viewers to the full episodes. To use it, they just have to add the video clip and attach a link to the full episode to it.

Threads suggested account categorized based on topic

If you want to find “your people” on Threads, i.e., users that post content you are interested in, you can now look at different categories for users based on their posts:

threads suggested accounts categorization

For instance, if you are interested in the Tech Threads community, the platform will give you a carousel of accounts under said tag.

New Threads features: February 2026

Threads streamlines the cross-sharing feature with Instagram

Threads users now have a much easier time sharing their posts to Instagram:

threads and instagram crossposting update

Upon tapping the share button, they’ll be able to add any thread they have directly to their Instagram Story without leaving Threads.

On top of that, they get a preview of how the IG Story will look.

This is yet another change to support podcasters on its platform: they can now tap the meatball menu when composing a thread and link to their podcast:

threads podcast links in posts

That said, this feature only works for video posts. And only Spotify, Apple, and iHeart links can be added.

Threads now shows image previews of posts in the activity tab

When scrolling through your Threads activity tab, now it’s easier to figure out what a specific thread is about by looking at its image preview:

threads media previews in activity tab

Threads allows users to fully customize their algorithm

Threads is officially rolling out its “Dear Algo” algorithm tweaker that will allow Anglophone users to refine what they see in their feeds:

threads dear algo update

To use the feature, users have to type in: “Dear Algo…” and then finish the sentence with what they want to see more or less of.

Meta is working on a standalone app for AI videos

It’s called Vibes, and it will be an evolution of its pre-existing “Vibes” video feed, but now users will only see AI-generated videos.

Think TikTok, but for AI videos only. It’s not my cup of tea, but Meta thinks there’s a market for such a product, so there you go!

Users will be able to pin chats in Threads

Want to keep some Threads chats top of mind (and inbox), like you can on Instagram? Soon, you will be able to:

threads chat pinning

The workflow is simple: just long-press any of your conversations until the contextual menu pops up and you tap ‘Pin’.

Threads carousels can now be edited

If you’ve been posting carousels on Threads lately, this is for you. Meta has made it easy to rearrange the order of the photos.

Now, you just have to drag and drop individual photos where they want to appear, so you won’t have to re-upload from scratch.

Meta’s Manus AI is here to make business tasks easier

This is for all businesses out there: now you have your own AI work assistant that has been designed to automate everything from generating reports to analyzing your business data.

Called Manus, this AI assistant will uncover new insights for you via research, schedule common tasks, and do anything else you might need:

meta manus ai assistant

Meta Business Suite supports Threads on desktop

Meta Business Suite is a necessary app for any business trying to maintain their social media presence across Meta’s platforms.

Now, Meta has added Threads to that app as well, which puts every important social media account under one roof.

Meta is developing an Instagram offshoot app for Instants

These are the disappearing photos you can share with your friends, which are currently located within the DM section. Apparently, this form of raw, unedited photos has become a hit, so Instagram is looking into creating a separate app just for them:

meta instants app teaser

Threads is making it easier for people to message each other

There’s a new feature in the works: adding a short “DM me” or “Message me” text that opens up the DM section for that specific Threads user:

threads dm me update

Meta’s Creator Marketplace is getting upgraded

Both brands and creators will benefit from these latest changes, as they will be able to establish better partnerships more easily.

First of all, all businesses around the world will be able to access the Creator Marketplace. Then, high-performing creators will be recognizable via specific badges, and brands will also see which creators are a fit for them. Brands will also be able to find similar creators and compare them.

Threads has reached ad-ready status

Huge news for brands! Due to Threads’ recent surge in popularity (predicted to surpass X), Meta has decided that it’s time to start rolling out ads to all users globally.

Meta will be adding several different ad formats:

Threads has an improved post markup feature

Highlighting text is now linear, instead of scattered, and there’s a magnifying glass showcasing exactly which characters you are highlighting:

threads post markup feature update

This is one more little update, but with so many new updates coming each week, Threads will soon offer everything (and more) that X does!

New Threads features: January 2026

Threads is improving the podcast experience

If you are a podcaster trying to make it on Threads, you’ve just gotten a new feature: upload short clips from your episodes into your feed.

Brands and businesses will have an easier time protecting their content on Meta

Meta Rights Manager will soon implement advanced copyright management support on its platforms that will help you protect your content:

meta rights manager

That way, brands and businesses can protect all their pages, profiles, and channels across Meta’s ecosystem from copyright infringements.

Threads will soon surpass X’s userbase numbers

The social media community is expecting Threads to surpass X as the most used chat-based social media platform in 2026.

Some recent reports also showcase that this is already happening, with Threads edging out X in daily mobile users, such as the latest data from Similarweb:

threads vs x stats 2026

Games in Threads DMs? Yes, please

To motivate its users to use the DM system more, Threads is implementing various games in its chats:

threads dm games update

In addition to replacing everything X has to offer, Threads is evidently trying to add additional features that will make it a more appealing alternative.

Live chat to Threads communities is coming

To make the Threads communities feature better, the team behind it is adding a ‘Live Chat’ option:

threads communities live chat update

Moderators can set a name, photo, and start and end dates for the ‘Live Chat’ session. Plus, they can choose who can participate in the chat.

Mysterious new attachment option coming to Threads

This is a feature that either proves useful or will be a gimmick. However, I still don’t know what it does:

threads tangle feature

As you can see, the feature looks like a jigsaw piece, and it can be added via the new thread composer. If I had to guess, I would say it’s a way to connect multiple posts together. But, we’ll see.
