How to Repost UGC Across Multiple Social Networks

By:

As any social media manager knows, creating or finding quality user-generated content is difficult, so when you get some, you need a way to reuse it.

So, it’s no surprise that everyone wants to learn how to repost content (either theirs or someone else’s), as they need engaging UGC on all their social channels.

Doing so can help boost your brand’s visibility and engagement. Plus, it’s a great way to keep your social feeds active and engaging with fresh content.

That said, all native reposting features are limited to the platforms themselves. So, what if you want to share your content across other social channels?

Why does reposting UGC matter for your brand?

When you repost any post, Story, Reel, or any other content, you connect with your audience, increase engagement, and expand your reach. Here’s why it matters:

mind map showcasing the benefits of reposting ugc
  • Builds trust with your audience – reposting user-generated content (UGC) examples shows you value your followers;
  • Saves time and effort – reposting existing content is more efficient than creating new posts from scratch; not to mention it’s free;
  • Boosts engagement – sharing content from others encourages more interactions and builds up your online community;
  • Expands your brand’s reach – reposting on multiple platforms increases visibility across the entire social internet domain;
  • Increases brand consistency – reposting similar content helps maintain a cohesive brand message across all channels.

Evidently, by reposting content and/or embedding this UGC on your website, you’re actively growing your brand and connecting with more people.

Step 3: Collect your user-generated content

You can choose among different source types, such as accounts, hashtags, mentions, or Stories:

Step 4: Repost your user-generated content

Then, you can navigate to the ‘Monitor’ section (left ribbon menu) to repost your content.

How to repost Instagram content via the native methods?

For now, Instagram only offers an official Facebook reposting solution, which recreates your original post instead of linking to it.

That said, it also gives you an option to share your content as a link wherever you wish. The steps to link to your content are fairly straightforward:

  1. Open your Instagram post – navigate to the post, Reel, or Story you want to share on another platform or anywhere else on the Internet;
  2. Tap the paper airplane icon – this opens all the available sharing options;
  3. Choose your target social platform – there are several to choose from;
  4. Or, select ‘Copy link’ – this copies the direct Instagram link to your clipboard;
  5. Paste the link anywhere – you can now share it however you wish.

You can also use the ‘Share’ option to immediately send your content via messaging apps or social media platforms installed on your device.

Note: You can also tap ‘Download’ in the Instagram app to get the content you are looking at and then re-upload if wherever you wish while attributing the original poster.

How to officially repost content within Instagram?

Instagram provides a native feature that allows Instagram users to share content to their Stories, and keep it forever if added to their Highlights.

The process is more or less the same regardless of the content type:

  1. Find the public post or Reel;
  2. Tap the paper airplane icon;
  3. Choose ‘Add to story’ (bottom left);
  4. Customize your Story as you see fit;
  5. Share with your followers or Close Friends;

Here’s the default look when reposting a @cocacola post in your Stories:

Note: If you don’t see the ‘Add to story’ option, it’s likely because the original poster’s account is private or they’ve disabled sharing of their posts.

Officially, this is the only method Instagram allows you to repost on Instagram, as it ensures that the original poster is credited with their username. That said, you may also get a direct message with a Story in which you’ve been tagged, and you can repost.

5 best practices for reposting content across social media

If you want your reposted content to perform well across platforms, follow these best practices to make every share count, regardless of the reposting method you use:

Keep the original creator in the spotlight

Always ask permission to use others’ content and give credit where it’s due. Mention the original handle in your caption and tag them directly when possible.

👉 Scenario: A fashion brand reposts a customer’s outfit photo. They tag the creator and include their handle in the caption. The post performs well, and the creator reshares it, doubling the visibility.

📌 If you’re using EmbedSocial, you can easily get UGC rights for all the content you pull into the platform, making it easy to give credit when resharing:

Customize your captions for each platform

Don’t just copy-paste, as what works on Instagram might feel out of place on LinkedIn or Facebook. You have to tweak the tone to fit the audience.

👉 Scenario: A café reposts a customer’s Instagram story on Threads with a casual tone but rewrites it for LinkedIn to highlight community engagement.

📌 With EmbedSocial, you can tailor captions while reposting to each platform from one screen—no need to log into each network separately.

Repost at the right time

Social media managers know that timing can impact reach. Also, each platform has different peak hours, so don’t rely on fixed schedules for everything.

👉 Scenario: A tech brand reposts a product review on Instagram in the afternoon, but it goes live on LinkedIn early in the morning for B2B readers.

📌 EmbedSocial lets you schedule reposts to hit optimal posting times on each platform.

Stay visually consistent

Make sure your reposted content fits your brand’s aesthetic. That might mean curating what you repost or adding overlays or branding elements.

👉 Scenario: A skincare brand only reposts images with natural lighting and adds a branded frame when sharing to Facebook.

📌 With EmbedSocial, you can preview the content before publishing and curate the posts that match your style best.

Understand how social media algorithms treat reposts

Each platform’s algorithm behaves differently when it comes to reposted content. Instagram often prioritizes original posts, platforms like Facebook or Threads may reward engagement-heavy reposts, and LinkedIn values ingenuity and resourcefulness.

👉 Scenario: A small business reposts a viral customer video on all platforms. It performs best on Facebook, where resharing is more native to the user experience, but underperforms on Instagram, where original content gets more visibility.

📌 EmbedSocial helps you stay ahead by allowing you to customize and repurpose content for each platform, so your reposts don’t look like duplicates.

By following these simple but powerful tips, you’ll get more from every repost—without overwhelming your team or compromising your brand.

Conclusion: Boost your social media presence by reposting content efficiently

Reposting content is no longer a manual, time-consuming task, but a smart way to stay active, expand your reach, and maintain brand consistency without reinventing the wheel.

With EmbedSocial, you can now collect content from any social media platform and repost it instantly to any other. One tool, every platform, complete flexibility.

So if you’re ready to save time, streamline your content workflow, and grow your social presence with ease, we’ve got you covered.
