To add an Instagram feed to Wix, open the Wix Editor, click Add Elements > Embed Code and just paste your Instagram widget code.
Moreover, you can install the Instagram Feed app from the Wix App Market and connect a Creator or Business account.
Both take about five minutes. The hard part comes later.
Wix’s own Instagram Feed app sits at 1.6 out of 5 stars from 749 reviews in the Wix App Market. Personal accounts stopped working with it in December 2024.
In such cases, feeds go blank, videos show up as still images, and Wix Studio users end up asking the forums where the embed option went.
I’ve set up Instagram feeds on Wix sites for years, and this guide shows how to add Instagram feed to Wix with every method that works in 2026: the Wix app, Instagram’s own free embed codes, custom API code, and an EmbedSocial widget.
You’ll get the steps for each, a straight comparison and a troubleshooting table for when your Wix Instagram feed stops working.
Instagram feed on Wix: 4 methods compared
Here’s how to add an Instagram feed to Wix, depending on what you need the grid to do:
| What you need | Wix Instagram Feed app | Instagram embed code | Custom API code | EmbedSocial widget |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cost | Free to install | Free | Free, but costs dev time | Free plan, paid plans for more |
| Account type | Creator or Business only | Any public account | Business or Creator | Business or Creator, or a public username |
| Updates on its own | Yes | No, post embeds are static | Only if you build it | Yes, auto-sync |
| Layouts | A few presets | Instagram’s card only | Anything you code | Grid, slider, masonry, carousel and more |
| Reels and Stories | Limited | One Reel at a time | If you build it | Yes (Pro and up) |
| Hide specific posts | No | n/a | If you build it | Yes, moderation |
| Wix Studio | Check the App Market | Yes | Yes (Velo) | Yes |
| Setup time | ~5 minutes | ~2 minutes per embed | Days | ~5 minutes |
The short version:
- One post in a blog article? Use Instagram’s embed code.
- A basic grid on a Business account, and you’re fine with presets? Try the Wix app.
- A grid that stays synced, matches your design and works in Wix Studio? Use an Instagram widget.
- A fully custom build and a developer on hand? Use the API.
How to add Instagram feed to Wix with the Wix app
The Wix app is the default route, and the only one that lives inside the editor. It’s called Instagram Feed (New), it’s made by Wix and it’s free to install.
Connect Instagram to Wix
- In the Wix Editor, open the App Market and search for “Instagram Feed.”
- Pick Instagram Feed (New) by Wix and click Add to Site.
- Click the feed on your page, open Settings and click Connect Account.
- Log in to Instagram and approve the permissions.
Your account must be a Creator or Business profile. Since December 4, 2024, Instagram no longer lets the app connect personal accounts. You can switch for free in the Instagram app under Settings > Account type and tools.
Business accounts get more than Creator accounts here. Only Business accounts can show profile details, like and comment counts, and a hashtag gallery, according to Wix’s Help Center.
Customize the Wix Instagram feed
Once connected, open Settings to pick what shows (username, captions, hashtags), then Layout for text alignment and padding, and Design for presets, backgrounds, borders and the popup that opens when someone clicks a post. You can connect more than one Instagram account.
Wix Instagram feed app limits
The app works, but reviews point to the same problems again and again:
- 1.6/5 average from 749 reviews, with complaints about page speed, videos showing as static images and limited design control.
- No moderation. You can’t hide a single post you don’t want on your site.
- Presets over precision. You get a handful of layouts, not full control.
- Dependent on the connection. If the Instagram login expires or you change your account type, the feed breaks until you reconnect.
The App Market also lists third-party Instagram apps from other developers, some paid. They’re worth a look if you want to stay inside the App Market, but read the reviews first. We compared the main options in our roundup of the best Instagram widgets.
How to embed Instagram feed on Wix manually (no app)
You don’t need an app to embed Instagram on Wix. Instagram gives you embed codes for free, and Wix accepts them through its Embed HTML element.
Embed your Instagram posts via the native Embed code
Instagram lets you embed a public profile post from the desktop website:
- Open your (or anyone else’s) profile on instagram.com in a browser (not the app).
- Find the Instagram post you want to embed.
- Click the three dots (•••) in the top-right corner and choose Embed.
- Click Copy Embed Code.
- In the Wix Editor, go to Add Elements > Embed code.
- Double click the element and paste the code in the empty field.
The embed will show the post exactly as it appears on Instagram. You can’t pick the layout, the number of posts or the design.
That’s how to embed an Instagram post on Wix (the same steps work on any site, as we cover in how to embed Instagram photos). It’s great for a single proof point, like a product launch or a customer photo, but it never updates.
Each new post means a new embed.
Add Instagram to a Wix blog post
The Wix Blog has its own editor, so the steps change slightly:
- Copy the post’s embed code from Instagram, as above.
- Open your blog post in the Wix Blog editor and click Add.
- Under From the web, choose HTML code.
- Tap Edit HTML and paste the code.
- Adjust height, width and alignment, and click Save.
Custom code with the Instagram API
If you have a developer, you can build the feed yourself. It means creating a Meta developer app, connecting a Business or Creator account through the Instagram API, storing an access token and writing Velo code to fetch and display posts.
It’s also why most businesses skip it. Long-lived Instagram access tokens last 60 days, so someone has to refresh them or the feed dies. Add caching, layout code and API changes (Instagram shut down its Basic Display API in December 2024), and you’ve built a small product just to show your own photos.
How to embed Instagram feed on Wix with EmbedSocial
This is still a manual embed.
That said, there’s no app to install and you use the same Embed HTML element in Wix. The difference is that the code loads a live widget instead of a static card, so your grid stays synced and looks the way you want.
1. Connect your Instagram source
Sign up for EmbedSocial and connect your Instagram Business or Creator account. If your account is public, you can also add it by username without logging in.
Note: The free plan covers one source.
2. Choose a layout
Under Widgets, pick a template (grid, slider, masonry, carousel or a Reels slider) or describe what you want and let the AI widget builder create it.
Then, adjust colors, fonts, spacing and the number of posts to match your Wix theme. Need inspiration? Browse these Instagram feed on website examples.
3. Copy the embed code
Open the Embed tab in the EmbedSocial widget editor and click Copy code.
4. Paste it into a Wix Embed HTML element
In the Wix Editor, click Add Elements > Embed Code and paste the widget code in the empty element field. Then, just update your page.
Note: You can drag the element where you want the feed and set its width.
5. Publish and check mobile
Publish the site, then open it on your phone. Wix embeds run inside an iframe, which doesn’t resize on its own, so switch to the mobile editor and adjust the element’s height if the feed looks cut off.
That’s it. New posts appear automatically. If you want the full product rundown, see our Instagram feed for Wix page.
Wix Instagram feed not working? Here are 8 fixes to try!
Most broken Instagram feeds on Wix come down to one of these.
| Problem | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Can’t connect your account | Personal Instagram account (not supported since Dec 4, 2024) | Switch to a Creator or Business account in Instagram settings, then reconnect |
| Feed went blank | Instagram login expired or permissions were removed | Reconnect the account in the app or widget settings |
| No new posts showing | Sync schedule, or a disconnected account | Check the connection. With EmbedSocial, new posts arrive on your plan’s sync schedule |
| Feed is cut off | Wix Embed HTML is a fixed-size iframe | Increase the element height, or set width and height to 100% |
| Looks wrong on mobile | Iframes don’t resize on their own | Adjust the element in the Wix mobile editor |
| Videos show as still images | App limitation (a common complaint in Wix app reviews) | Use a widget with a Reels or video layout |
| Embed shows nothing | Code uses HTTP or isn’t HTML5 | Use the HTTPS embed code from the provider |
| Can’t find the embed option in Wix Studio | Different menu in Studio | Add Elements > Embed & Social > Embed Code |
Instagram feed for Wix: EmbedSocial features
If your grid needs to be more than a row of squares, here’s what EmbedSocial adds on top of the embed.
Note: Over 400,000 brands use EmbedSocial, and it’s rated 4.8/5 on G2.
Your Instagram feed, auto-synced
Connect your account once and new posts appear on your Wix site without re-embedding. How often depends on your plan: every 24 hours on Free, every 3 hours on Pro and Pro Plus, and every 30 minutes on Premium, per our auto-sync docs. The Instagram source docs cover every account type.
Reels, Stories and posts by URL
Show Reels in a video slider with the Instagram Reels widget, add your Stories with the Instagram Stories widget for Wix or hand-pick specific posts by pasting their links. Here’s how to embed Instagram Stories step by step. Handy when you want a launch campaign on your homepage, not your whole grid. More ideas in our guide to embedding Instagram Reels.
Moderation and AI filtering
Hide any post with one click, filter by keyword, or let AI filtering keep off-brand content out automatically. That’s the control the Wix app doesn’t give you. See how moderation works.
Shoppable Instagram feed
Tag products on your posts so visitors can shop straight from the feed on your Wix store, part of our social commerce tools. Shoppable widgets are on every plan, and importing a product catalog starts on Pro. Here’s a full walkthrough on how to embed a shoppable Instagram feed.
Hashtag and mention feeds
Once your own grid is live, you can add a second feed of customer posts by #hashtag or @mention next to it (Pro Plus and up), and turn your Wix site into a proper UGC platform. See the hashtag and mentions docs, or follow our guides to embed an Instagram hashtag feed and embed Instagram mentions.
UGC rights requests
Before you feature a customer’s post, use UGC rights management to request rights by Instagram DM or comment and keep a record of who said yes. New to this? Start with how to collect user-generated content.
AI widget builder and templates
Describe the feed you want (“a 3-column grid with rounded corners and a follow button”) and the AI widget builder creates it. Or start from one of the ready-made templates.
One embed code for Wix
Every widget uses the same copy-and-paste code, following our Wix embedding docs. The same account also covers Google reviews on Wix (see how to embed Google reviews on Wix), plus TikTok, YouTube and testimonial widgets for Wix and more from our Wix integration.

Conclusion: Embedding Instagram widgets on Wix is a set-and-forget job with the right tool!
Adding an Instagram feed to Wix is easy. Keeping it working is the real job.
- Single post or blog embed: use Instagram’s free embed code.
- Basic grid, Business account, no design needs: the Wix app will do, but check the reviews first.
- A grid that stays synced, matches your site, works in Wix Studio and lets you hide posts: use an Instagram widget for your website.
